Who’s the most bad-ass dreadnought in the Space Marines codex?

A couple of sweet Invader ATVs just rolled off the painting desk and into the channel collection!

Really happy with how these turned out—double-layer edge highlights, weathering, and a both Wargear options (gatling and melta) ready to go for future battles as we always do with vehicles/and similar platforms.

You’ll be seeing them in action soon! And if you ever want models painted to this level for your own army, our studio’s always happy to help:

Congrats to Anna on her 2-1 run at a tournament! 💪 (Her 2nd tournament ever!)

Despite Anna having quite a lot of experience playing the game, as I always like to say, a tournament is a very different beast—and you can’t fully consider yourself a proficient player until you’ve tamed it. Yesterday, I was very happy to see that, through all the difficulties of a competitive event, our 40K princess remembered all the hard-learned lessons from her training.

The event itself was also very challenging, as all tournaments in Moscow (where we are now and will be for a few more weeks) are extremely competitive, and even beginners bring very optimized lists to the table.

Anna brought 2000 points of her favorite big stompy robots—Imperial Knights: 6 Warglaives, 4 Helverins, 1 Cerastus Knight Lancer, plus a Callidus Assassin and a Navigator for scoring.

Ilya (my brother) and I decided to escort Anna to the tournament to observe, record her mistakes, and make adjustments post-event. We had preemptively agreed not to make any comments, give advice, or assist in any way to ensure she felt completely on her own against her opponents, creating full immersion.

Her first game was against an Ironstorm Spearhead list filled with Dreadnoughts and Techmarines. Unfortunately, due to very unsportsmanlike behavior from her opponent, Anna couldn’t finish the game properly. The player unexpectedly launched into a verbal attack against Ilya and me, using very strong language simply because we were observing the game—right at the first hint of him losing momentum. He tried to force us to leave. We decided this was not a healthy way to conduct a game and left for lunch, as the player refused to apologize or even admit his mistake. Thankfully, this is a very rare occurrence at tournaments—an unfortunate exception.

At first, Anna wanted to quit the tournament and go home, but she later decided that it wasn’t what her Knights would have wanted. The rest of her games were very friendly, fun, and mutually respectful.

Her second game was extremely entertaining (against a well-balanced Vanguard Dark Angels list) and started with Anna’s Cerastus Lancer being blown up by a squad of Azrael-led Hellblasters with a very lucky roll. What made it even more fun was that the Lancer actually exploded 💥, dealing D6+2 mortal wounds to about 70% of Anna’s army—killing the Callidus Assassin and Navigator outright and severely damaging most of her Armigers.

Anna showed her character; despite this absolutely devastating blow to her army, she collected herself and continued to fight, taking out Lion El’Jonson with several well-placed melta shots. She then proceeded to gradually dismantle the Space Marine force, despite very strong resistance from her opponent, Andrew. They finished with an 82-36 score in Anna’s favor.

Her last game was against the new Eldar codex, which neither of us knew much about since it had only recently become available. Nonetheless, Anna applied a lesson I’d taught her—that before the game (especially when the army is new to you), you need to do recon: ask your opponent basic questions about their list, main units, key stratagems, and potential “gotcha” moments. Your opponent usually knows their army much better than you do, so it’s almost always worth asking.

The Eldar list was an Aspect Host with all the Aspect Warriors you can think of, plus a few Phoenix Lords and a healthy number of Falcons/Wave Serpents to transport all that goodness.
The first few turns were careful firepower exchanges, with Armigers, Aspect Warriors, and transports getting wrecked. Ultimately, after losing all of his Fire Dragons, Falcons, and with his Dark Reapers staring down a Lancer ready to charge, Anna’s opponent decided to concede.

Overall, the tournament showed me that Anna has a very good grasp of both basic and advanced skill sets needed to play 40K competitively, with a few areas—such as speed and rules knowledge (how well you can judge mid-game if your opponent’s interpretation of their army rules is correct)—needing a bit of polishing.

We’ll keep attending tournaments together, and I’ll update you on any interesting developments!

Happy birthday, my wonderful wife!

Thank you for inspiring me to start this channel and always having my back whenever I felt like not doing it anymore.

Thank you for having the curiosity to ask my brother Ilya about the old warhammer boxes he had in his attic which made us three restart this hobby in 2017 (which he has first discovered way back in 2004).

Thank you for being the best cohost and life partner I could have ever possibly wished for! Stay happy and healthy, always - because you are already more beautiful than should be legally allowed ❤️

Love you ‪@AnnDopira‬,

Yuri

P.S. Anna’s B-day was actually on 28th Jan but we were too busy on that day so writing this only now.

Anna and I just visited the famous “40K cathedral” in Moscow.

Anna’s dad, who invited us, actually serves as a bell ringer there and whenever we visit we are always blown away by how Grimdark the place looks🤩

In there it feels like any moment the Emperor might emerge from a hallway…

Roboute Guilliman - Lord Commander of the Imperium has arrived and is finally officially a part of the channel’s collection 🥳

Very happy with how he turned out - we wanted to make a classic blue armor version of him with our traditional NMM armor elements that are a signature mark of our diamond painting tier 💎

G-man is a must have for UM army now and I’ve enjoyed running him enormously since the balance update.

Tournament victory 🥇at a local event with Adeptus Custodes

Played today at really nice local RTT event in my beloved New Hampshire with some really awesome guys and excellent players.

I played my favorite Custodes list (Wardens, Ventatari, Caladius, Guard, Sisters and Shield Host) and despite them being far from perfect shape in the current meta and light years far from what they were in the beginning of 10th they definitely still felt great and nicer still - reliable to play. It’s a shame that Caladius tanks are such a mandatory thing, I hope GW will give us more variety in the future.

Looking forward to playing more of this list in a few more events in the future.

P.S. On Space Marines. A bit more of my rambling if you are into that sort of thing 😄

I really enjoyed the durability that Custodes have, which I missed a lot with my 3+ save dudes playing SM. I feel like Space Marines lists (especially BA and vanilla) are turning a bit too glass-hammery for my taste. Sometimes when you play tough games you just will have units that end up in a situation where there are a number of barrels starring into their face and you really-really need them to survive. SM have very few units that can do this and still be efficient overall, and I personally don’t enjoy that because I like armies that can take a punch if you messed up or the rolls really screwed you over, etc. It’s not like you can’t build SM this way - you can, but it’s an increasingly narrow variety of units that you then have to choose from and build a list around them, and play around them. Hopefully we’ll get more such options as 10th edition matures.

What is your opinion on this? Do you feel the same way?
