Yesterday, Tuesday, we got to see and go into the FRIGGIN WHITE HOUSE which was really cool, it was so amazing getting to see all the places from tv and stuff. Then we got to do what was definitely one of my favorite things which was the Smithsonian museum of natural history! (Not the one from Night at the Museum though 😔) STILL VERY COOL! I love taxidermy as long as it's ethically sourced, because I see it like an art form to appreciate God's beautiful creations of animals. It was overall very neat!

Lol so I said I would post every day about how my day in DC was and then just didn't- man I've been tired so sorry about that 😭 I will make up now! On Monday, we went to the Capitol building, which was really cool to see, then to the archives where we saw things like the original declaration of Independence and emancipation proclamation. Then, later in the day we visited the Lincoln, Vietnam war, and Korean war memorials, that last picture was at the Korean.

Wow, okay, so... first day in DC was a lot- man, I am not one for busy city life, that's for sure 😭 This morning, we went to the Arlington National Cemetery and that's where all the pictures shown are from. It was really cool getting to see all these places, and it is sad to see the places where slaves used to live, though, and that house used to be a plantation which is a little unsettling for sure. However, it was really neat to see the Tomb of the Unmarked Soldier, as I have a great admiration for those in the army, and I took pictures of the guard and tomb. However, the second thing we did was something I was dreading, the Holocaust Memorial. Now, it isn't because I don't want to learn about the past, History is one of my favorite subjects, but I get very sensitive and emotional about things like that. I know because I had a complete mental breakdown when we went to a similar thing, a museum of a b0mbing in Oklahoma where I could not handle the reality of so many innocent people dying. This was better, being older I could handle it more maturely, but I only lasted about two thirds into the exhibition and had to leave. I was already holding back emotion, and when I read about a mother desperately trying to save her children from being gassed in a camp I lost it. There were a bunch of high school kids on field trips, too, so I just felt like everyone was staring at me and I just hid for a while until my family was done 😭 Am I glad I went in hindsight? Yes. I have read Corrie Ten Boom's autobiography so I already knew quite a bit, and remembering history is really important. Did I want to go at first? Nope. But yeah it was a good first day overall :3
