What makes 285 unusual is the wood: spruce top, Brazilian rosewood back and sides. He hasn’t built many that way, and Brazilian is getting harder to find on any modern guitar.

🇫🇷 Julian Gomez Ramirez 1930 : Small, light, and remarkably powerful. Spruce / Brazilian rosewood from the Paris maker who inspired Robert Bouchet and the French school.
🇮🇹 Fernando Mazza 2026 @mazzaguitarras : Brand new cedar double top over Santos rosewood. Explosive power and huge sustain, easy to play.
🇪🇸 Miguel Rodriguez 1991: The rare 650mm scale. Enormous projection and bell like trebles, the sound the Romero family made famous.

Hermann Hauser III, 1990, No. 263. Built for Angel Romero and embossed “AR” on the headstock. For roughly the last fifteen years it has been Martha Masters’ concert instrument, and her most recent albums were recorded on it.
This is not a standard Hauser. Cedar top ‼️ , seven-fan braced with a floating brace beneath the soundhole in the Miguel Rodriguez tradition the Romero family championed. Brazilian rosewood back and sides, French polished top, Reischl tuners. A Hauser workshop guitar voiced toward Spanish warmth and color rather than the cool clarity the name usually implies.
It blooms under the fingers the way the best cedar tops do, with the projection and dynamic reach a touring career demands. More than a few players who have spent time with it have called it the finest sounding Hauser III they have ever heard.
Structurally excellent, no cracks or repairs, with honest playing wear on the back from two artists who used it for real.
An incredible Romanillos inspired guitar by the great German traditional guitar maker Gerhard Oldiges. This one is from the year 2023 and is 640mm scale.
It’s true there is no shortage of makers wanting/trying to make great interpretations of Romanillos guitars, but we have not seen a better one that the ones made by luthiers Gerhard Oldiges and Tobias Braun (unrelated but also making incredible Romanillos-inspired guitars: both students of Jose Romanillos’ famed guitar making courses).
The trebles, as they say, are the great separators of a fine guitar, and on this guitar, they have that special response and overtone content and sustain that captivate. This, paired with 640mm scale make it a dream. Oh-and of course, check out the beautifully detailed craftsmanship.
