i need to update how i rate my books, so here it is!
one star: horrible book, i should have dnf'd it two stars: there were only a few things i liked in the book, not really sure why i continued it three stars: the idea/story was good, maybe there was a character i didn't like or maybe the writing style/execution wasn't great four stars: a good book! characters + plot + execution was good, but there just wasn't anything that really stood out enough to make it five stars five stars: one of the best books i've read, i will forever recommend it!
this month was a very good reading month for me! i read 6 books (which i know isn't a lot for some people) but i usually only read 4 or 5, so this was a very good month! i read 2 romances, 1 fiction, and 3 romantasies!
first book - nothing like the movies by lynn painter i liked this book! i think i might have liked it more than better than the movies, but i like college romances, so i was bound to like it. not much to say about this one.
second book - crooked kingdom by leigh bardugo this is the second book after six of crows, and i feel like this is a good duology! i do kind of wish there was a third book though, because (1) i just want more of the characters, and (2) i feel like i could use a little more going on between kaz + inej. but it's okay, i really liked the duology!
third book - i am not jessica chen by ann liang i loveee ann liang's writing style, and her stories in general. it's a very simple plot but it's executed very well. i don't usually read fiction/light fantasy, but i actually really like this genre and i want to read more of it!
fourth book - i hope this doesn't find you by ann liang can you tell i like this author lol? i really liked this book, and was excited to read it because of the booktok hype, but i honestly liked ianjc better. i see why booktok would like it, but i liked i htdfu more than ianjc.
fifth book - the prison healer by lynette noni the plot twists in this book are crazyyyy. i love this book, i'm currently reading the third one right now, and it's amazing! the characters, plot, execution, everything!!
sixth book - the gilded cage by lynette noni this is the second book after the prison healer, and i don't have much to say other than that i love it just the same amount as the prison healer! i will say, this book is much more complicated and i was a little bit confused at the end, but overall it was great!
well, that was rant! tell me if you want me to do more monthly wrap-ups/tbr's next month! i had lots of fun writing this, i hope you had fun reading it, and i hope you have a good day!
i used this website that has a bunch of different prompts, copy the link (https://thereadingnook.com.au/tbr-prompt-generator/) touse it too!
first prompt: a dystopian book - sky without stars by jessica brody and joanne rendell i thrifted this book last week, and i've been trying to read more dystopian books, so i'm excited to read this!
second prompt: a book with a blue spine - red queen by victoria aveyard (technically, i have the second book, glass sword, but they both have a blue spine, i'm counting it) i thrifted this book as well; i was very surprised when i found it! i'm excited to read this series; it's been on my tbr for a while. (also, i saw the second book in the 'scythe' series, if you've read it should i put it on my tbr?)
third prompt: a book with an epilogue - artemis fowl by eoin colfer i did read the first 3 or 4 books in the series, but that was a year ago and i was not very interested in the series, but i'm excited to try and pick it back up!
if you want to do this and i've tagged you, feel free to! (you can also do it if i didn't tag you lol)
