"Could You Be the One?" is the first single from my upcoming fifth solo album, due out in October 2025. While I’m perhaps mostly known for performing traditional songs, this track marks a shift towards my own songwriting, featuring a full-band sound with rich harmonies.
The single - and the whole album - was produced by Joe Sartin, the wizzkid son of my late friend, Paul Sartin. The band brings together musicians I’ve worked with for years: Jackie Oates, Jon Nice, and, after a long wait (at least for me), the return of Rich Davies on bass. Rich and I first played together when we were 14 but haven’t shared a stage since 2003. Rounding out the lineup is Laurence Hunt, whose work with Hack Poets Guild, The Wayward Band, and the Jim Moray Band (where we first played together) adds a powerful, driving rhythm.
