Rev. Reverend Jesse Jackson prophesied. And believe me — he understood timing. Black History Month. A history maker finishing his race in the very month that tells our story. He spent his life shaping history. And even in his departure, history marked him. He was a history maker after all. There are moments in life when you realize you didn’t just meet a man… you met a mantle. The first day he met me, he looked at me and said, “You’re a part of our future, starting tonight.” A month later, he spontaneously showed up at a meeting I was hosting — at a hotel where every room was named after a civil rights giant. I didn’t even know that when I booked it. He prophesied to others in the room. Then later, he asked me to pray. I was called to pray for Rev over ten times. One time he was grieving civil rights being reversed. Another time we prayed and sang Great Is Thy Faithfulness. I saw the word SON written across his forehead. And I reminded him — God said you are a son. After I prayed, he told Christopher Hodges, “That woman prays good. Can you call her — is she a queen from Africa?” I watched him receive the Key to the City of Chicago — an honor that hadn’t been seen in that way since Nelson Mandela. And in that room, God opened a major door for me. After he told me I was part of the future, I began being invited into political sector rooms I had no business being in. That wasn’t networking. That was mantle. A mantle of economic justice. A mantle of civil rights. A mantle to stand in rooms and not flinch. Sometimes his voice was gone — but his mind was always sharp. He reminded us: We had a charge to keep and a God to glorify. History collided with obedience. Now he is among the great cloud of witnesses. And I thank the Lord for his legacy.
What if you were given two full years—no childcare costs, no housing payments—just space to get back on your feet, focus on God, and your purpose?
Yesterday, I visited a place exactly like this. It’s a 68-acre campus called The Gatehouse in Grapevine, Texas, and I’ve never seen a model like this before.
This program is designed for single women or single mothers (up to three children) who are serious about rebuilding their lives. You can stay for up to two years, and during that time they provide housing, free childcare/daycare, counseling, financial coaching, and structured support.
There are three tracks: Career Education (bachelor’s or master’s) Vocation (trade school or STEM) The goal isn’t temporary help—it’s long-term self-sufficiency. Women in the Career Track, for example, are required to secure full-time employment within 45 days. You’re assigned a counselor and a financial coach to help you stay on track.
This program is especially powerful for women who may be coming out of a breakup, domestic violence situation, homelessness, or financial crisis and need stability while they reset their lives. Now, let me be clear—there is structure. There’s a curfew (10 PM on weekdays, midnight on weekends), and Bible study is required. This isn’t a place to drift. It’s for women who are ready to commit to growth.
And the campus? Beautiful. Peaceful. Intentional. If you’re in the DFW Metroplex—or you know a woman who truly needs this kind of support—I encourage you to reach out to The Gatehouse and explore the program. When you do, tell them Dr. Alexis sent you.
The work I’m doing in Chicago has changed my life, and it all started with a prophetic word, a prophetic dream, and my obedience to go.
I don't want to be known as someone who simply prophesies, I want to be known as someone who lives out the prophecies spoken over me. Just like Deborah rose when Israel needed a leader, and Esther stepped into her purpose for “such a time as this,” I too will arise in the calling God has placed on my life.
Esther 4:14 reminds us that we were born for such a time as this. This truth resonates deeply within me—not just for myself, but for all of you. We are not here by accident; each of us was created with a divine purpose. The prophecies, callings, and dreams God has placed in us are meant to be lived out, not just spoken.
As I step into this new season, my prayer is that my life reflects the power of living out what was prophesied. I am committed to changing the world one step at a time.
You were born for a reason, and I believe we are all positioned to rise and fulfill our destinies. Real influence goes beyond a photo op—it's about the change being made behind the scenes, at the tables of kings. Stay tuned. Your gift will make room & bring you before great men.
