LG AiDD 10.5KG has turned 5 years old today (01/11/2025)! Not sure how many cycles it has done as this doesn't have a cycle counter on it or hasn't been found yet. 5 years ago today was the day that this replaced the Samsung WF80! This is kinda of a review, didn't have time to fully sit down and write it so i may have missed a few things out.
Was it worth the upgrade?
Pros: Washes and rinses well, it is DirectDrive which means it can be almost silent. build quality is good, especially on the inside! If you select the wrong cycle and you want to change it, it reuses the same water, unlike the Mieles and Samsungs which drains. The best cycles on this machine are; Hygiene, Baby Care, Mixed Fabric and Eco 40-60. Hygiene and Baby Care are technically the same cycle. Hygiene Heats to 70°C and maintains it throughout the main wash. Baby Care from last time i used it heated to 60°C, not sure if it maintains but both cycles do a steam phase before hand which surprised me because this isn't a steam model. Eco 40-60 heats to around 48°C, similar to Miele, unlike Samsung which uses cold tap water temperatures. The Final spin on Eco 40-60 can vary depending on the load size; 10.5KG = 36 minute final spin, 5KG = 21 minute final spin, anything lower is approx 14-18 minutes long. Also Tub Clean is one of the best Drum clean cycles out there! Heats to 70°C and does spin washes on the main wash and rinses! Cycle times are OK for me as i like long wash times anyway. THIS MACHINE NEVER LIMITS THE SPINS! If you have a small load or it does very unbalanced spins, this machine never limits the spin speed. It will always take it to the max speed you selected unlike Samsung where it limits with a small load or Miele limits if it is unbalanced.
Cons: THE DRUM PADDLES!! I have said this numerous of times that the paddles can sometimes not tumble the loads. If you wash bulky items like pillows or duvets or wash smallish loads then they may not wash properly due to the paddles being small. This machines does not do any temperature hold (except Hygiene) so if you do a long Cotton 40°C or 60°C wash, by the time it drains the water could have cooled down too quickly and drain cold. When i found out how to check the water temperature when i did a Cotton 40°C it can occasionally heat to 28°C or 30°C which to me is unacceptable. This happens due to the machine having a "Built-in Ai System" that detects the items in the drum and can vary the temperature if it thinks the items could be damaged by the heat you specified. For a workaround, use Silent Wash. A few cycles i don't like or use are; Speed14, Cotton 40°C, Hand/Wool, Sportswear and Duvet. Speed14; too short for my liking, even for small loads. Cotton 40°C; doesn't heat correctly. Hand/Wool; could do with slightly more drum movements, good for soaking items. Sportswear; similar to Delicates but main wash and rinses as well it swings the laundry rather than tumbles. Duvet; although is a good cycle, there is no 60°C option. A few years in owning this machine, the shock absorbers do sound and they can sound quite loud, but can be fixed or replaced on the cheap.
Also for advanced users, hidden modes such as Service Mode, 1, 2 and 3, BBT (Board/Basic Burn-in Test), Demo Mode, Quick Service Mode, Smart Diagnostic and Parametric Mode etc. are all useful tools and can make having an LG AiDD a better experience.

▶️LG never limits spin speed: youtube.com/shorts/PcZY5PPlir...
▶️LG never limits spin speed (Spin Cycle w/PM): https://youtu.be/jMY_rfT2iJ4
Overall i would recommend this machine IF:
💠You don't mind the occasional not heating correctly on Cotton 40°C if you use this cycle a lot.
💠You don't mind the paddles. May have degraded wash and rinsing performance depending on the load.
💠You don't mind long wash times, this isn't a Turbowash model.
💠You want a good variety of cycles.
💠Want a machine with good spin performance.
💠Easy to use and maintain.
Then this is the machine for you!

I want to do a pillows wash and compare all machine against each-other however i am not sure which cycles to do. What would you like to see? The spin will be set at the cycles max speed. For temperature, preferably 60°C, but i am more than happy to do 40°C for these specific wash races :)
Not sure when it would come out.

Samsung Bespoke Series 8 Dryer turned 1 year old on the 9th of August 2025! To date it has done 164 cycles.
Pros: Good range of cycles and cycles times, heat exchanger is user accessible, has AI Energy Mode which hasn't been tested yet for maximum efficiency. The SmartThings app is amazing! The machine feels well built and the heat shield is made from glass/tempered-glass.
Cons: Requires DL4 (extra dry) to dry everything first time, sometimes items can still come out slightly damp (seams etc), drawstrings get caught (like the LG Dryer), requires more maintenance than my LG, you have to clean the heat exchanger a lot and run "Self Tub Dry" for hygiene reasons. The cycle lasts 3hrs which you have to run empty.
Overall i would recommend this machine to anyone currently looking for a decent dryer. Although i would recommend LG dryer more due to the fact that has less maintenance and dries everything on Cotton Eco Cupboard Dry first time round!
