First — India commissioned ICGS Akshay, a fully indigenous Fast Patrol Vessel designed and built by Goa Shipyard Limited. This is a significant step under Aatmanirbhar Bharat, strengthening coastal security and Search and Rescue capabilities in the Western region.

Second — Goa's maritime infrastructure got a major boost. The new Captain of Ports Terminal at Mandovi River, the Goa Water Metro (Phase-I), and Mormugao Port earning India's first Green Port status are all aligned with the Sagarmala Programme and Maritime India Vision 2030.

Third — Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan paid tribute to Nadaprabhu Kempegowda on his 517th Jayanti. The founder of Bengaluru built an interconnected network of lakes in the 16th century — a model of sustainable urban planning that remains relevant in the age of climate change and water scarcity.

Our analysis covers all three with Prelims Pointers, Mains Practice Questions, and Strategic Significance for each topic.

PIB Current Affairs | 24 June 2026 | UPSC GS Paper 1, 2 & 3

This edition covers five high-priority topics drawn directly from government press releases and policy reports.

TOPIC 1 — CPGRAMS 46th Monthly Report (GS Paper 2: Governance)
DARPG released the 46th CPGRAMS report for May 2026. Key data: 85,900 grievances received, 84,365 disposed. Uttar Pradesh topped the rankings with 27,030 resolutions. The report also marks the launch of Samadhan Didi — an AI-powered voice chatbot introduced on 30 May 2026 to simplify grievance registration through natural language interaction. CPGRAMS is now integrated with 5 lakh Common Service Centres.

TOPIC 2 — El Nino & India's Multi-Tier Preparedness (GS Paper 1 + 3)
India has recorded 43% below-normal rainfall as of June 2026. INCOIS (Hyderabad) issued a special El Nino Bulletin covering marine heatwaves, coral bleaching risk, and coastal erosion on the eastern coast. On the agriculture side, 315 districts have been identified as vulnerable; 111 of these are high-priority with less than 25% irrigation coverage. The District Agriculture Contingency Plan (DACP) — prepared by ICAR and ICAR-CRIDA — provides district-specific crop alternatives and water management strategies.

TOPIC 3 — First SCO Human Rights Advisory Meeting (GS Paper 2: IR)
India's NHRC participated in the first SCO NHRI Advisory Meeting in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. NHRC India shared its experience of resolving over 23.7 million cases in 32 years and proposed the ITEC capacity building programme for member states. The meeting was anchored on principles of sovereignty, non-interference, and equality.

TOPIC 4 — NITI Aayog Trade Watch Q4 FY26 (GS Paper 3: Economy)
NITI Aayog's 8th edition of Trade Watch Quarterly focuses on the pharmaceutical sector. India's total goods and services trade stood at $1.84 trillion in FY26, growing at 5.4%. Pharma exports reached $35.8 billion. Key concern: API import dependence on China and the need to shift from volume-based to innovation-led pharmaceutical exports.

TOPIC 5 — Textiles Export Strategy 2030 (GS Paper 3: Economy)
The Ministry of Textiles held a two-day departmental summit on achieving $100 billion in textile exports by 2030 — up from the current $37 billion. The 5F Vision (Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign) forms the strategic backbone. Plans include 36 State Export Action Plans, 200 District Export Action Plans, and a focus on Man-Made Fibres (MMF) and Technical Textiles.

Each topic includes MCQs with explanations and Mains practice questions.

PIB Analysis | 22 June 2026 — India's Strategic Milestones in One Day

Today's press releases from the Government of India cover four significant policy and infrastructure developments that every UPSC aspirant and policy professional must be aware of:

1. Nirbhay Chetna Campaign — The Ministry of Panchayati Raj is sensitising 17.5 lakh male elected representatives on gender equality under the Nirbhaya Fund. A cascading model with 28,500 master trainers is being deployed across rural India.

2. Coal-to-Ammonium Nitrate Project, Odisha — India's first commercial coal gasification project (BCGCL), a CIL-BHEL joint venture with an investment of over Rs 25,000 crore, was inaugurated in Jharsuguda. The plant will use indigenous PFBG technology to produce 0.66 MTPA of ammonium nitrate by September 2029.

3. India's ABS Framework — The National Biodiversity Authority has distributed Rs 145 crore in biodiversity benefits since 2008, reaching over 10,500 Biodiversity Management Committees across 23 states. India's model is now a global reference under the Nagoya Protocol.
