ANOTHER LIFE...

FOR HIS NAME’S SAKE
“He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” — Psalm 23:3

Psalm 23 is one of the most comforting passages in Scripture. In this beautiful psalm, King David describes God as a loving Shepherd who guides, protects, restores, and provides for His people. Yet one phrase stands out with powerful meaning: “for His name’s sake.”

God does not merely bless His children because of their worthiness, strength, or perfection. He works in our lives because His Name is attached to us. When God saves, restores, leads, forgives, sustains, and preserves His people, He is honoring the glory of His own Name.

1. God’s Name Represents His Character

In the Bible, a name is more than a title; it reveals character, authority, reputation, and nature. God’s Name represents who He is:

Jehovah Jireh — The Lord Our Provider

Jehovah Rapha — The Lord Our Healer

Jehovah Shalom — The Lord Our Peace

Jehovah Rohi — The Lord Our Shepherd

When God leads us in righteousness “for His name’s sake,” it means He acts consistently with His holy character. God will never abandon His people because His Name is faithful, righteous, merciful, and true.

“The Lord will not forsake his people for his great name's sake.” — 1 Samuel 12:22

What encouragement this gives believers! Even when we are weak, confused, or weary, God remains committed to His covenant and His reputation as a faithful Shepherd.

2. God Restores Us Because His Name Is Merciful

David said:

“He restoreth my soul…”

There are moments when Christians become discouraged, spiritually dry, wounded by sin, broken by disappointment, or exhausted by life’s battles. Yet God restores His children.

Why? Because His Name is merciful.

Peter denied Christ three times, yet Jesus restored him. Jonah ran from God, yet God pursued him. The prodigal son wasted everything, yet the father received him back with compassion.

Your failures do not cancel God’s faithfulness. When you repent and return to Him, He restores you for His Name’s sake. God delights in showing the world that His grace is greater than human weakness.

“If we are faithless, he remains faithful.” — 2 Timothy 2:13

3. God Leads Us in the Right Path

“He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness…”

The Christian life is not directionless. God leads His people with wisdom through His Word, His Spirit, and His providence. Sometimes the road is difficult, narrow, and unpopular, but the Shepherd knows the destination.

God does not lead us into righteousness merely for our comfort, but so our lives can reflect His glory before the world.

Christians are called by His Name. Therefore, our conduct becomes a testimony of who God is.

“Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” — 2 Timothy 2:19

When God transforms a sinner into a holy vessel, the world sees the power of His Name.

4. God Defends the Honor of His Name

One of the greatest encouragements for believers is this: God has invested His Name in His children.

When the enemy attacks you, accuses you, or tries to destroy your faith, remember that your salvation reflects God’s reputation. The Shepherd will not lose His sheep because His honor is connected to their preservation.

“Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me.” — John 17:11

God’s promises are not built on human ability but on His unchanging Name. He watches over His Word to fulfill it.

Even when circumstances seem delayed, God will act at the appointed time because He will not allow His Name to fail.

5. We Must Live for His Name’s Sake

If God blesses us for His Name’s sake, then we must also live for His Name’s sake.

Christianity is not about self-glory, popularity, or earthly applause. We are ambassadors of Christ. Our speech, conduct, love, purity, and faith should honor the Name we bear.

“Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus.” — Colossians 3:17

The world should see Christ through us:

in our integrity,

in our forgiveness,

in our humility,

in our endurance,

and in our faithfulness during trials.

Encouragement to Christians

Perhaps you feel forgotten, overwhelmed, or spiritually tired. Remember this truth: God has not finished with you. The Shepherd who began the work in your life will continue to guide, restore, protect, and sustain you — not because you are perfect, but because His Name is upon you.

His Name guarantees:

restoration after failure,

guidance in confusion,

strength in weakness,

peace in trials,

and victory in the end.

The enemy may remind you of your past, but God sees His covenant. Men may abandon you, but the Good Shepherd remains faithful.

“For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name's sake lead me, and guide me.” — Psalm 31:3

Conclusion

“For His Name’s Sake” reminds us that God’s dealings with His people are deeply connected to His glory and faithfulness. He restores us, leads us, forgives us, protects us, and keeps us because His holy Name is at stake.

Therefore, Christians can walk with confidence, knowing that the God who called them is faithful. His Name will not fail.

“He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” — Philippians 1:6

ANOTHER LIFE...

THE DANGER OF WORSHIPPING GOD AND MAMMON!
“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other… Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” — Matthew 6:24

One of the greatest spiritual dangers facing Christians is not always open sin, persecution, or unbelief — it is divided loyalty. Jesus warned that it is impossible to truly serve both God and mammon. Mammon represents more than money; it symbolizes greed, materialism, worldly security, and the obsession with possessions.

God does not condemn honest work, wealth, or prosperity. Abraham, Job, and David were blessed materially. The danger begins when money takes the throne of the heart and becomes the object of trust, affection, and devotion.

The Subtle Power of Mammon

Mammon speaks a dangerous language:

“Trust your bank account more than God.”

“Success matters more than holiness.”

“Compromise is acceptable if it increases profit.”

“You do not need prayer when you have influence and wealth.”

Slowly, spiritual hunger dies. Prayer becomes shallow. The Word of God loses priority. Church becomes routine. A believer may still sing worship songs while secretly serving another master in the heart.

That is why Jesus said:

“Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” — Matthew 6:21

Your treasure reveals your true worship.

Consequences of Worshipping Mammon

1. Spiritual Blindness

Greed hardens the heart and blinds people to eternal realities. A person can gain wealth and lose sensitivity to God’s voice.

“The cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word.” — Matthew 13:22

Mammon promises satisfaction but never truly satisfies.

2. Compromise and Corruption

Many believers begin sincerely but later compromise truth for financial gain, status, or worldly advancement. Judas Iscariot followed Jesus physically, yet greed opened the door to betrayal.

“For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.” — 1 Timothy 6:10

When money becomes an idol, conscience becomes negotiable.

3. Loss of Eternal Focus

Mammon fixes the eyes on temporary things instead of eternal treasure. A person can spend an entire lifetime building earthly wealth while neglecting the soul.

Jesus spoke of the rich fool who stored treasures for himself but was unprepared for eternity:

“Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee.” — Luke 12:20

Death exposes the emptiness of worldly obsession.

4. Broken Fellowship with God

Anything that competes with God for first place becomes an idol. God desires total devotion, not partial surrender.

“Little children, keep yourselves from idols.” — 1 John 5:21

A heart consumed with mammon cannot fully enjoy intimacy with God.

The Wise Christian’s Attitude Toward Wealth

A mature believer understands:

Money is a tool, not a master.

Wealth is temporary, but eternity is forever.

God is the source; riches are only resources.

Contentment is greater than abundance without peace.

“Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness.” — Matthew 6:33

When God remains first, material blessings can be handled with wisdom and humility.

Final Warning and Encouragement

The danger is not in possessing wealth but in allowing wealth to possess you. Many have lost prayer altars, integrity, marriages, ministries, and even their souls because mammon became their hidden god.

Do not trade eternal riches for temporary gain.

Choose God completely. Trust Him as your Provider. Let your heart remain free from greed and worldly bondage.

“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” — Mark 8:36

May every Christian live with eternity in view and worship God alone with an undivided heart.

WHAT GRACE IS AND WHAT GRACE IS NOT?


Grace is not a license to sin, an excuse for spiritual laziness, or a way to ignore accountability. It is also not a loophole to disregard God's holiness or the consequences of sin; rather, it is unmerited favor that empowers believers to live righteously and overcome sin. Grace does not mean that you have permission to continue in a sinful lifestyle. Instead, it is a power that enables you to stop sinning and live a life of righteousness. Grace is not a cover for spiritual or physical laziness. Instead of being idle, a person of grace is called to be dedicated and to serve others. Grace is not God simply ignoring or overlooking sin. His holiness remains, and a corrupted understanding of grace does not mean that the consequences of sin will be disregarded. Believers are called to live with integrity and purpose, not to use grace as a way to avoid accountability for their actions.



Grace is not about a person thinking they are "not good enough" for God's grace, which can be a form of self-righteousness. Instead, it is about trusting in God's sufficiency and power. Grace is an active empowerment that requires your participation. You must be willing to receive it and act on it, rather than expecting it to do all the work for you. Grace is a constant theme in the Bible, and it culminates in the New Testament with the coming of Jesus (John 1:17). The word translated "grace" in the New Testament comes from the Greek word charis, which means “favor, blessing, or kindness.” We can all extend grace to others; but when the word grace is used in connection with God, it takes on a more powerful meaning. Grace is God choosing to bless us rather than curse us as our sin deserves. It is His benevolence to the undeserving.



Ephesians 2:8 says, “For by grace are you saved, through faith, and that not of yourselves.” The only way any of us can enter into a relationship with God is because of His grace toward us. Grace began in the Garden of Eden when God killed an animal to cover the sin of Adam and Eve (Genesis 3:21). He could have killed the first humans right then for their disobedience. But rather than destroy them, He chose to make a way for them to be right with Him. That pattern of grace continued throughout the Old Testament when God instituted blood sacrifices as a means to atone for sinful men. It was not the physical blood of those sacrifices, per se, that cleansed sinners; it was the grace of God that forgave those who trusted in Him (Hebrews 10:4; Genesis 15:6). Sinful men showed their faith by offering the sacrifices that God required.




The apostle Paul began many of his letters with the phrase, "Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ" (Romans 1:7; Ephesians 1:1; 1 Corinthians 1:3). God is the instigator of grace, and it is from Him that all other grace flows. God shows both mercy and grace, but they are not the same. Mercy withholds a punishment we deserve; grace gives a blessing we don’t deserve. In mercy, God chose to cancel our sin debt by sacrificing His perfect Son in our place (Titus 3:5; 2 Corinthians 5:21). But He goes even further than mercy and extends grace to His enemies (Romans 5:10). He offers us forgiveness (Hebrews 8:12; Ephesians 1:7), reconciliation (Colossians 1:19-20), abundant life (John 10:10), eternal treasure (Luke 12:33), His Holy Spirit (Luke 11:13), and a place in heaven with Him some day (John 3:16-18) when we accept His offer and place our faith in His sacrifice. Grace is God giving the greatest treasure to the least deserving—which is every one of us.

THE AZUSA STREET REVIVAL


The Azusa Street Revival was a Pentecostal revival in Los Angeles from 1906 to roughly 1915, led by the African American preacher William J. Seymour. It is considered the origin of the modern Pentecostal movement, known for its interracial meetings, ecstatic spiritual experiences like speaking in tongues, and emphasis on divine healing. The revival spread globally, inspiring the formation of numerous Pentecostal denominations and missionary efforts worldwide.

The Leadership was led by William J. Seymour, who was influenced by Charles Parham. It all began at a prayer meeting on Bonnie Brae Street and moved to the former Azusa Mission building at 312 Azusa Street. The spiritual phenomena included spiritual gifts such as speaking in tongues, prophecy, and divine healing. The revival was notable for its interracial and interdenominational attendees, challenging the social norms of the time. Women also held leadership roles. Services were frequent, sometimes continuous, and spontaneous, attracting hundreds to thousands of people.

As the origin of modern Pentecostalism, it is widely regarded as the birthplace of the global Pentecostal movement. Missionaries spread the movement's message to over 50 countries within two years, distributed through a free newspaper called The Apostolic Faith. It led to the formation of numerous Pentecostal denominations that exist today.

THEY ALL SLUMBERED AND SLEPT!


The parable of the five foolish and five wise virgins is the parable of the state of readiness, faithfulness, steadfastness, watchfulness, and preparedness. The ten virgins were not referred to as sinners, and they knew about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The virgins desired to be with the Lord and knew what it meant to be with the Lord. Jesus Christ was trying to let us know that foolishness doesn’t only occur from the side of those who have rejected the gospel of salvation; it also occurs on the side of those who have accepted the gospel.


“While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept” – Matthew 25:5.



The truth of the parable of the five foolish and five wise virgins is that while waiting for the Bridegroom; they all slumbered and slept. The ten virgins were all caught off-guard or un-wakeful! It’s natural to slumber or sleep at the night hours. Many often slumber during the day due to sleepless nights or stress. Jesus Christ was found sleeping on the ship by His disciples while in the boat on the stormy sea. Jonah was found sleeping on the ship while he was trying to escape the instructional mission and call of God.



“But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only” – Matthew 24:36.



One thing about slumbering and sleeping is that it portrays the state of unconsciousness and lack of wakefulness or alertness. Spiritually, this is a terribly state because it’s the hour of spiritual operations and spiritual warfare of the spirit (Matthew 13:25). While expecting the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ according to His promises; we need to be ready and be found expecting. Slumbering in the spirit can cost us losing the kingdom of God, not to talk of sleeping in the spirit. The hour of slumbering and sleeping by the foolish virgins could have been used to obtain spiritual revival, get the needed oil, fill the lamp with oil, and have extra oil for long term eventualities.


“But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way” – Matthew 13:25.


Instead, the foolish virgins were found slumbering and sleeping when what they ought to have done was left undone. The coming of Jesus Christ would be sudden to all believers, but only those who are found worthy, steadfast, wise, ready, faithful, and fully prepared would go with the Lord on that day. Let’s wake up brethren from any form of unconscious spiritual slumbering and sleeping in the spirit; the hour draws near day by day. Blessed are those who keep washing their robes and making them holy in order to reign with Jesus Christ (Revelation 22:14).


“Then shall two be in the field, the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Watch therefore for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come” – Matthew 24:40-42.



“But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief” – 1 Thessalonians 5:1-4.

PRODIGAL LIFE


The parable of the prodigal son in the Bible illustrates God’s unconditional love, forgiveness, and redemption for those who repent and return to Him. What God thinks of all sinners is “When are you coming back to your God?”

We have all drifted away from God, and all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Now is the day of acceptance and salvation. God desires our return for a welcome home.


“And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him” – Luke 15:20.

BE COURAGEOUS

If you can conceive it; you can deliver it. Life offers numerous challenges and the path to success isn't a walk in the park. It's easier to fall than to rise as life is full of land mines that we often tred upon without knowing. Failure is not final, and that you've failed isn't the end; because failure has values if only you can learn from your mistakes and never repeat them again.



Success often brings new challenges to turn success to failure or to turn hero to zero. All you need in life is focus and determination. You can make it if you can think it. Don't fear and don't entertain things that would make you panic unnecessarily. Every hurdle we cross in life prepares us for another future challenges to cross over. Don't give up that good mission; it's not over until it's over. Just do it as you can make it in life by putting your whole trust in God's wisdom.

ANOTHER LIFE...

GOD BREAKS THOSE HE WANTS TO USE

"The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit" - Psalm 34:18

God doesn't use those who are full of themselves. When God calls us, God doesn't need our abilities but our availabilities. We just only need to say, God I'm here, send me!

For God to use you, you must first come to the end of self and everything that's attached to self. You have to empty self out of your life to have the fullness of God. When you stop seeing self and start seeing God; you're at the beginning of the road to be used by God.

At this juncture, you will need to live the life of self forgetfullness and focus only on God. When God breaks us through trials, challenges, and storms of life; He wants to strip away all our self confidence, human pride, vanities of life, earthly perceptions, and love of the world.

God only fills empty vessels because those who are full of self, earthly possessions, pride, and vanities of life would never be filled by God. Those who are rich in the spirit cannot be used by God, let alone to see the Kingdom of God. Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven.

The heart that possesses nothing but God is poor in the spirit, and such heart will continually hunger and thirst for more of God indefinitely. Nothing would satisfy such heart except God, pursuit of God, and the possession of God.

God's breaking is aimed to remould us and shape us for His glory. When God starts using broken vessels, such vessels would see themselves as God-made and not human-made. Without brokenness, we would naturally give glory to self and put trust in self.

When God starts to use us, nothing would sustain the use but continual brokenness and submissions to the glory of God. Brokenness is needed for God to start using us, and it's needed for God to continue in using us. God wants us to come to the end of self indefinitely for Him to take all the glory in our lives and for using us. We should let God shape us...
