We’re saddened to hear of the passing of Martin Parr, a hugely influential voice in British social documentary photography.


His sharp, playful way of observing everyday life made his work instantly recognisable, and some of his most iconic images were created right here in the North West, including his well-known series made in New Brighton during the 1980s.


Loved by many for his honest eye and debated by others for the same reason, Parr’s work has left a lasting mark on how we see ordinary life. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and the photography community.

"One of the most intense shoots was capturing content from the Wall of Death—a thrilling, gravity-defying motorcycle act.

The arena was packed, so I placed the Elinchrom THREE on the central table to light up the space while David performed. Using a clip board as a make shift flag, I created even lighting with the diffuser dome, while shielding myself from flare.
