Thompson Twins, a British pop band formed in 1977, achieved significant success in the 1980s, leaving an indelible mark on the era's music. Comprising Tom Bailey, Alannah Currie, and Joe Leeway, the trio transitioned from post-punk to synth-pop, defining their sound. Their breakthrough came with the 1983 hit "Hold Me Now," followed by the album "Into the Gap," featuring chart-toppers like "Doctor! Doctor!" and "You Take Me Up." These tracks showcased their knack for infectious melodies and socially conscious lyrics. The band's thematic richness, combined with danceable beats, contributed to their international stardom. Despite later stylistic shifts and disbandment in 1993, the Thompson Twins' impact endures, with their influence extending beyond the 1980s.

The Gap - US ANNIVERSARY | On 22 November 1984, Thompson Twins released their single “The Gap” in the US. Curiously, the fan favourite track was not released as a single worldwide. For example, “The Gap” was never released as a single in the UK, appearing only on the band’s eponymous album Into The Gap.

MOJO, **** for Industry & Seduction.

“Industry & Seduction serves to remind quite how good they could be: In The Name Of Love, If You Were Here, Hold Me Now and You Take Me Up are but four copper-bottomed pop classics included herein, but it’s the supporting material that intrigues. The unreleased LA concert from 1984 illustrates their ability to command the crowd, while the eccentric early and later work…demonstrates strangeness was never far beneath their highly polished surface.”

Thank you, Mojo & Daryl Easlea!
