Science of Krishna - Vedic Knowledge
Today we reflected on a very beautiful teaching from ΕrΔ« Caitanya-caritΔmαΉta.
Krishna is compared to the sun, and we, being His energy, are like the rays of that sun. In between comes MΔyΔβlike fog. This fog cannot cover the sun, but it can cover our vision.
Similarly, Krishna is always present, but due to our attachment towards illusion, we are unable to see Him.
So our real task in this human form of life is not to search for Krishna elsewhere, but simply to remove the fog of MΔyΔ through chanting, hearing, and association of devotees.
When the fog clears, we realizeβ
π Krishna was always there.
Yours Servant

Science of Krishna - Vedic Knowledge
Do we See Devotion or Just Recognition ?
This writing is something very personal and deeply introspective. It is not written to analyze or criticize anyone, but to correct my own vision. Over time, I have observed how subtly material thinking enters even our spiritual life. Without realizing it, we begin to evaluate devotion through external lenses. One of the strongest illusions in todayβs age is that we have started measuring devotion through fame, visibility, and recognition.
In the present scenario, even in devotional circles, respect is often unconsciously given based on how well-known a person is. We look at how many followers someone has, how many people speak about them, how many books they have written, or how popular they are on different platforms. These things, although not wrong, gradually become the criteria by which we judge spiritual advancement. This shift is very subtle, but very dangerous.
If we pause and reflect deeply, we will see that bhakti has never been about recognition. Bhakti has always been about purity of heart, sincerity of intention, and depth of surrender. The ΕrΔ«mad BhΔgavatam explains that in Kali-yuga, people will often give importance to external designations and neglect the real substance. This is not just a theoretical statement; it is something we can practically observe around us and within ourselves.
At the same time, it is very important to understand that this reflection is not against those devotees who are famous. Many devotees become well-known because Krishna wants to glorify them. Through their preaching, thousands of people come in touch with Krishna consciousness. Their lectures, books, and guidance help many souls come out of confusion and begin their spiritual journey. Such devotees are instruments of Krishnaβs mercy, and they deserve our heartfelt respect.
However, the concern is not about their fame, but about our perception of it. We begin to equate fame with purity, visibility with realization, and popularity with spiritual depth. We start assuming that if someone is widely known, they must be more advanced than others. This is where our vision becomes covered, and we risk misunderstanding the very essence of bhakti.
A very powerful lesson comes from our parampara. On one side, we have Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur, who was a greatly influential preacher, widely respected and known. On the other side, we have his spiritual master Gaurakishora Dasa Babaji Maharaj, who lived in deep renunciation, avoided publicity, and was hardly known to the general public.
From a material perspective, one may appear more significant because of influence and recognition. But spiritually, the so-called unknown devotee was an ocean of realization. The greatness of Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur was that he did not judge his Guru by external visibility. He recognized his Guruβs deep purity and fully surrendered to him. This teaches us that real spiritual intelligence means seeing beyond appearances.
If we go even deeper, we find the highest examples in the residents of VαΉndΔvana. The Brajvasis are simple villagers. They are not scholars, they are not preachers, and they are not known across the world. Yet their entire existence revolves around Krishna. Their love is spontaneous, natural, and uninterrupted. They do not try to prove their devotion, nor do they seek recognition for it.
From an external viewpoint, they may appear ordinary. But from Krishnaβs viewpoint, they are the most exalted devotees. This reveals a very deep truth: real devotion does not need validation. It flows naturally from a pure heart.
Sometimes, pure devotion is not only hidden but also misunderstood. A striking example is Bharata from the RΔmΔyaαΉa. From a superficial perspective, one might think that Bharata benefited from Lord Ramaβs exile. His mother was responsible for the situation, and he became the king in Ramaβs absence.
But internally, Bharata Maharaj was completely shattered in separation from Lord Rama. He rejected the throne, placed Lord Ramaβs slippers on it, and ruled only as a caretaker. He lived with deep renunciation and constant remembrance of Rama. Materially, he could be misunderstood, but spiritually, he was among the purest devotees.
Similarly, Vibhishana teaches us another profound lesson. He left behind the powerful influence of Ravana, the security of the royal kingdom, and the comfort of material association. He chose to surrender to Lord Rama, who at that time appeared externally powerless, living in the forest.
From a material viewpoint, leaving power and choosing uncertainty seems irrational. But Vibhishana was not guided by popularity or influence. He was guided by truth and devotion. He chose what was spiritually right, not what was materially impressive. That is why he became eternally glorious.
If we introspect honestly, we may see that we also carry subtle tendencies of judging based on external factors. We feel more attracted to well-known personalities. We sometimes overlook simple devotees who may not be very expressive or visible. We may unknowingly value influence more than realization.
But bhakti is not about following trends. It is about following truth. It is about seeking that association which purifies the heart and deepens our connection with Krishna.
When we meet a devotee, instead of evaluating their fame, we should observe the effect of their association on our heart. Do we feel more humble? Do we feel more inclined towards chanting? Do we feel inspired to give up our anarthas? Do we feel closer to Krishna?
Because ultimately, bhakti is not about being impressed by someoneβs external qualities. It is about being transformed internally.
Purity cannot be measured through numbers, followers, or recognition. It cannot be displayed or advertised. It is experienced in the heart. It is understood through humility. And most importantly, it is revealed only by Krishnaβs mercy.
A devotee may remain unnoticed in this world, may not be appreciated by many, and may not have any external recognition. Yet that devotee may be extremely dear to Krishna. Such a devotee may not be famous here, but may be deeply glorified in the spiritual world.
This reflection ultimately becomes a prayer.
O Krishna, please protect me from this illusion of judging devotion through fame. Please give me the intelligence to recognize genuine purity. Please give me the humility to respect all devotees, whether known or unknown. And please give me the sincerity to seek that association which will truly purify my heart.
At the end of our life, Krishna will not see how popular we were or how famous the devotees were whom we followed. He will see how sincere we were, how much we struggled to purify our heart, and how deeply we developed love for Him.
Fame may impress the world, but purity attracts Krishna.

A Lesson
One day, two pujaris in a temple had a disagreement over a small incident. Words were exchanged, egos were hurt, and soon silence replaced cooperation. Though they continued their services, an invisible wall of negativity stood between them. Politics quietly crept in where prayers once flowed.
A few days later, during darΕana, one pujari stood before the Deities and offered his obeisances. As his eyes lifted, his heart paused. Krishna stood before himβradiant, exquisitely dressed, adorned with ornaments that seemed to glow with devotion. The pujari felt spontaneous joy and admiration.
βToday Krishna is extraordinarily beautiful,β he thought. βWho has decorated Him so lovingly?β
Suddenly, a realization struck him. What if it was the very pujari I am fighting with?
His mind softened. βWithout the mercy of ΕrΔ«matΔ« RΔdhΔrΔαΉΔ«,β he reflected, βno one can decorate Krishna like this. Such beauty is not talent aloneβit is blessing.β In that moment, pride melted into humility. He understood that despite their differences, the other pujari was clearly receiving divine mercy.
Unable to hold onto resentment, he went straight to the other pujari, folded his hands, and apologized. The misunderstanding ended, and their service continuedβnow purified by humility and gratitude.
The Lesson
In our devotional journey, differences of opinion are natural. But when we see a devotee serving sincerely, being empowered, or glorified in service, we must understand that such service flows from blessingsβof guru and Srimati Radharani. With this vision, even amidst differences, we can walk forward together, united in the same mission.
