I’ve had people ask me if I could transact with Bitcoin during the recent blackout which lasted over a week here.
The short answer is yes, but it is nuanced. As with anything, you need to be prepared.

Storm Kristin made landfall at our place earlier this week with hurricane force wind. This is day 6 of no mains power, water, internet or comms. We have to drive to get a mobile signal.
We could be looking at another month without services. Luckily we have a degree of self-sufficiency as we still have some functional solar panels, we have our own water supply, gas for cooking and a fire for heating. I’m trying to track down a Starlink so I can start making content again.

Earlier in the week we got a direct hit from an Atlantic hurricane that smashed the coast of central Portugal. Right now we have no comms, power or water and we have damage to fix and clean up to do. So it’s just survival mode for now.
I have a brief signal so just wanted to say there won’t be any content until life gets back to normal, which could take weeks.
