Currently owned by 6 whippets (a total of 10). I make breed content to help existing and future whippet owners. Let's dive into the world of these regal, loving, funny and dramatic speed chickens ❤️🐾
Hey, Whippet fam! After so many inquiries and after hesitating for so long (I don't even know why 🙈), the channel has an Instagram page: showpawsofficial. You can also find the link in the channel description here on YouTube.
I will post some extra short videos there, along with some photos, so don't hesitate to give us a follow.
Hey, Whippet fam! Have you taken your whippets to the beach and did they enjoy it? Erys' favorite activity there is to hibernate on the warm sand, it seems 🙈
Hey, Whippet Fam! We did some showing last weekend, we had to travel and I didn't have enough time to complete a new video for today, but I will be back next Friday. Erys absolutely nailed it, though, and brought home not 1, not 2, but 3 Best In Shows 🏆
Hi, Whippet Fam! Just as I was preparing multiple videos and planning to come back with a regular upload schedule, life hit us hard with another loss, completely unexpected this time. The goodest boy - Brady, crossed the rainbow bridge on Sunday.
Since many of you keep up with my whippets, their lives and adventures, the good and the bad that comes with old age, and since my intro will change once I'm back with the next upload, when I'll for sure not have the heart to speak about it, I'll share it in writing.
End of October last year, we found out Brady needed to have one of his upper canines extracted. On the day of his dental appointment, his bloodwork and all other tests were perfect, but we were referred to a cardiologist, due to a suspected heart murmur. Off to the cardiologist we went and after chest x-rays and extensive heart screening, they concluded the murmur was due to his age and was so mild, they were not concerned in any way, gave us a green light to proceed with his dental and requested to check his heart again in 8 months.
A week later, in November, he finally had his teeth done and after a whole day of worrying about our elderly boy, we were relieved to get a phone call that everything went well and the following day he was back to his normal, happy, energetic self.
Brady was 12 years and 7 months old, but was still playing, running and jumping around and wagging his tail constantly. And with such a recent clean bill of health and no signs of slowing down, I truly believed he would have been with us for at least a few more years.
Fast forward to last Sunday, in the morning he was his happy tail-wagging self, had breakfast and nothing was out of the ordinary. Then, in the early afternoon, while all whippets had their scheduled nap in the living room, we and the rest of the pack were startled, as he started whining in his sleep. We rushed over to him and tried to wake him up, but to no avail. Very shortly after, everything went quiet and he was just gone. We were and still are so heartbroken, shocked and in disbelief. I performed CPR several times, but couldn't get him back and I can't remember the last time I felt so helpless.
Nothing could have prepared us for this sudden loss, or helped us predict it could have happened. It will take me time to swallow it and get used to his absence, but I try to find peace in knowing he had a wonderful, happy morning, a full belly and crossed the rainbow bridge in his favorite soft chair, surrounded by his beloved human and whippet family.
Let's all remember him as the happy-go-lucky, patient gentleman of a whippet he was, who loved everyone and everything, since he was a little puppy.
Needless to explain how much I'm broken by the loss of a whippet, but I will do my best to post a new video very soon, as making them brings me joy.
Hey, Whippet Fam! With a broken heart, I have to announce that yesterday Lacey crossed the rainbow bridge. Those of you, who have followed the channel from the beginning know she was in many of my videos, as my bed used to be her favorite place to sleep, before she discovered downstairs is nice, too.
She was almost 14, old age wasn't kind to her, as you know, and we were prepared this day would come sooner rather than later. But even so, my dogs mean everything to me and the loss of a whippet breaks me like no other every single time. I will never forget the day I saw her first photo at 2 days old and said "this is my puppy", and I dreaded the day she'll show us the time has come and we'd have to take the most difficult, but kindest decision.
With all that said, I can't promise I'll manage to pick myself up and prepare a long video for next Friday. I might need a bit of extra time until I am able to sit down and say "I am owned by 7 whippets", instead of 8. And also, once I am back, which should be the week after latest, I won't have the strength to talk about her or say her name out loud for a long time, which is a part of my coping mechanism and to avoid emotional breakdown. Responding to your comments and emails from the past few days will come with a slight delay as well, so please be patient with me.
