Don't throw those peach peels in the trash!

In today's new video, Saundra is sharing a classic Appalachian homestead secret: turning peach skins and pits into delicious, sweet Peach Peel Jelly so absolutely nothing goes to waste!

While Saundra was in the kitchen testing out a brand-new no-ice countertop ice cream maker with fresh peach custard, Chuck and his brother were hard at work out in the heat putting the rear eve on our new timber frame building. (Don't worry, Chuck made it inside just in time for the ice cream taste test!)

We’re also picking fresh garden tomatoes and checking in on our late-season sweet corn crop.

We’re working hard to salvage some stunted garden crops, digging up a beautiful surprise harvest of red-skinned potatoes, moving a fresh batch of broilers out to the pasture tractors, and trying to outsmart the local wildlife before they eat our sweet corn.

But we’re wrapping the day up with a raw, completely transparent talk on the porch about the reality of running a farm business together. We pull back the curtain on the daily friction, the disagreements, and how we manage to keep both our marriage and this farm moving forward.

Man, they say bad luck travels in threes, but the farm decided to push the envelope and give us four major breakdowns all in the same week. 😅

We just put up a new video on the channel showing the absolute chaos. I’ve spent the last couple of days tirelessly fighting a massive water problem out here, and I finally had to swallow my pride and call in a professional plumbing crew to bail me out. On top of that, the truck broke down, a supplemental freezer packed up, and we suddenly lost one of our newly purchased bred cows in the pasture.

My old EMS days taught me a lot about handling crisis fatigue, but when everything breaks at once, it really tests your patience!

Despite the stress, we still had to keep moving. The video shows some good progress using the excavator to tear down old, weed-choked fencing and clear a hillside for our future fruit orchard. Plus, I took a walk out to the garden with Saundra, where our summer onion crop is absolutely thriving—so it’s not all bad news!

Honestly, dealing with a week like this just makes you step back and appreciate all the immense blessings we have with family, the garden, and our health.

If you've ever had one of those weeks where you felt like you couldn't catch a break, come hang out with us on the porch for this one. I think it'll give you some encouragement today.

There is nothing quite as satisfying as seeing all that hard work put up in glass jars!
