Here’s my Take on The Sad Story of Henry:

On a stormy afternoon, Henry was taking the loca. But the big green engine had been having trouble making steam since this morning, because of this he started losing steam and ended up stopping at the Tunnel between Knapford and Crosby. The Original Director (Shane Donovan) had a strong hatred for Henry. He hated him because Henry was the reminder of a scam that he fell for and how he wasn’t the engine he wanted (A GCR Class 8B Robinson Atlantic), he hated him because he described him as lazy, someone who didn’t worked hard enough, despite that fact Henry never gave up when it came to his work. On this day he had enough, he walked to the green engine and yelled at him letting every bit of hatred out not even letting the crew explain what happened. Shane walked to the nearest phone to call the station and soon one of the loaned engines arrived, but to Henry and his crew’s surprise, trucks filled with bricks. Shane explained that Henry was a waste of space and to teach him a lesson he was to be shut in the Tunnel. Henry, the workman and his crew were surprised, even some of the passengers who had been hearing the conversation. But no one could change his mind, the coaches were taken away and Henry was bricked up in the tunnel. After this, Shane got in contact with the LNER and asked for them to send him his best express engine (Which I’m sure most of you know who I’m talking about). However, news about Henry being bricked up reach nearly the entire Island, Including the railway board and needless to say, Shane’s career as the Director was finished. He was fired immediately and one of the members of the railway board suggested a man by the name “Bertram Topham Hatt” which they all agreed. Bertram’s first act at Director was to let Henry out of the Tunnel (This is where the events of Edward, Gordon and Henry take place).
As for Shane Donavan, no one knows what happened, if you ask the engines, they say that he probably left the island. Good riddance I say.
