Lorebeards

Hey Loreseekers!
Here's a poll for Saturday's Lorebeards 40k stream; pick the one you want Ross and Alexis to cover on August 15.

Adeptus Mechanicus
The Adeptus Mechanicus, or Priesthood of Mars, is the Imperium’s semi-autonomous cult of cyborg engineers, scientists, and techno-priests. They worship the Machine God—the Omnissiah—treat technology as sacred, preserve and manufacture most Imperial weapons and wargear, and pursue lost knowledge while often regarding true innovation as dangerous or heretical.

Forge Worlds
Forge Worlds are planets transformed into enormous industrial complexes under Adeptus Mechanicus rule, dedicated to extracting resources, building weapons, maintaining machines, and supplying the Imperium’s endless wars. Each has its own traditions, technological specialties, and religious dogma, but Mars is the original and most important Forge World as the spiritual center of the Machine Cult.

Belisarius Cawl
Belisarius Cawl is an exceptionally ancient and influential Archmagos Dominus of the Adeptus Mechanicus: a brilliant, ambitious, and deeply controversial tech-priest who pushes past Mechanicus orthodoxy in pursuit of technological advancement. He spent roughly 10,000 years working on projects tied to Roboute Guilliman’s plans, most famously the Primaris Space Marines, and remains a major figure whose experiments—such as efforts to create a route across the Great Rift—can look like salvation or heresy depending on who is judging.

Lorebeards

Another Fantasy poll arrives to celebrate the new Ogor/Ogre range refresh that has come for Age of Sigmar!

Andy & Ryan can feel the HUNGER, so chose between the three following topics to determine the August 30th episode of Fantasy Lorebeards!

1. Skrag the Slaughterer - Perhaps the most terrifying figure among the Ogres is the wandering Prophet of the Great Maw, known widely as Skrag the Slaughterer. A repulsive creature with great butcher's knives embedded in the stumps where his hands once were, barbed meat hooks deep in his flesh constantly pulling as he drags around a cauldron perpetually filled with offal, meat, and gore. But what is the origins of this infamous Ogre and just how deep does his relationship with the strange entity known as the Great Maw go?

2. The Fire Mouth - The greatest volcano found in the primal Mountains of Mourn, the monstrous lava-belching tower known as the Fire Mouth is far more than just an awe-inspiring natural formation. It is believed by the Ogres to be a literal God, the horrific spawn from a union between the Sun and the Maw. We'll delve into the history of this fantastical place along with the Cult of the Firebellys and much more!

3. Gnoblars - The sub-species of Goblins native to the lowlands and hills of the Dark Lands are known to most folk as Gnoblars. These diminutive creatures are easily identified by the contrast of their small stature against their large noses and ears, which they try to make appear even larger with poorly cobbled together extenders. We'll explore the ages they spent in their native lands before being driven out by the arrival of the Chaos Dwarfs and how they led into their integration into Ogre society, where they've remained ever since. An ultimately pathetic species that have survived, and even thrived, in a harsh world.

FANTASY LOREBEARDS IS ON THE WAY BACK!

Hello everyone, Sotek/Ryan here, and whew boy...it has been a TIME lately, huh?

As I'm sure you're all aware, Andy and I both essentially were zapped out of existence due to a bizarre series of coinciding positives and negatives. Andy, as your may have heard a little ways back, was having to take care of his mother amidst a series health scare. This then led into more positive events with him taking time to celebrate his kickass daughter graduating college (or uni, whatever they call it over there) while I had a big ole trip to Offkai 2026 that required QUITE a bit of prep effort due to making gifts for friends and such.

So we were all excited to get back to it...and then NURGLE STRUCK! And holy hell did he obliterate Andy and I, to be frank. We BOTH picked up a bad case of Covid despite being on opposite ends of the planet and had our asses thoroughly kicked.

Obviously this sucked as it made it impossible for the show to do...anything. As instead of one host being out of commission we both have for at least 3 weeks.

HOWEVER! The sun is finally rising on this long evening of horrors and we're both practically foaming at the mouth to get back on that horse. Andy THINKS he'll be well enough this Sunday (poor bugger has an extra chest infection to deal with in addition to the delights of Covid) but I'm back to 100% and ready to roar.

So there WILL be a show this Sunday...and we'd love for y'all to vote on it! THAT'S RIGHT, DEMOCRACY IS ALIVE AGAIN!

So we'd like to essentially "End" the current Season of Fantasy Lorebeards on a bang and thus would like you all to choose between one of the following options! We'll be revisiting some of our OLDEST topics to readdress some fan favorites that Andy and I both think we can do better!

The FINAL caveat to keep in mind is that Andy is still recovering day by day so this may not happen yet THIS Sunday, but hopefully it will. If he's unable to join I will still be doing an episode myself, probably with some of the other Lorebeards joining. But hopefully it'll be whatever y'all vote for here.

ALRIGHT LET'S GO!

The first two options are REDOING some of the OG episodes! They will VERY likely turn into 2 or 3 parters, so keep that in mind!

The third option will be Andy and I continuing the discussion on Sigmar, part 1 having been roughly a year ago! (Part 1 focused heavily on Sigmar's legacy as a MAN, so we'll be talking here about his later reign and ascension to Godhood and beyond)

Lorebeards

Hey Loreseekers!
Here's a poll for Saturday's Lorebeards 40k stream; pick the one you want Ross and Alexis to cover on August 8.

Nazdreg Ug Urdgrub
Nazdreg Ug Urdgrub is a large, cunning, and famously greedy Ork Warlord of the Bad Moons Klan, a clan known for its wealth and love of shiny "teef" (Ork currency). He's been part of the setting since 2nd Edition, commanding a powerful warband that has laid waste to at least eleven Imperial worlds and has periodically allied with the infamous Warboss Ghazghkull Thraka, notably during the Third War for Armageddon and again testing early Tellyporta technology on Piscina IV. Believed destroyed when his flagship space hulk Scylla was lost, Nazdreg turned out to still be alive, later resurfacing in the Medusa IV campaign and clashing with the T'au Farsight Enclaves during the "War of Dakka". As of 2026, he's set to return with a brand-new miniature in the upcoming Codex: Orks, marking his first new model in nearly 30 years.

The Leagues of Votann
The Leagues of Votann are a Kin civilization based around the galactic core, descended from human settlers of the Dark Age of Technology who evolved over millennia to survive in mineral-dense, high-gravity environments. Structured as a network of interstellar alliances and mercantile conglomerates made up of hundreds or thousands of autonomous but cooperative kindreds, each League functions as part military coalition and part trading compact, bound together by sworn oaths and hard-bartered deals. Their culture is guided by colossal computational intelligences called Votann, or Ancestor Cores, which grant them access to powerful ancient technology, and the Kin are defined by their stubborn refusal to yield under pressure and their strong communal loyalty to kin, whether flesh-and-blood or mechanical.

The Nova Terra Interregnum
The Nova Terra Interregnum, sometimes called the "Time of Twin Empires," was a major schism in Imperial history lasting roughly nine centuries, from the mid-34th to the late-35th Millennium. It began when the Ur-Council of the world Nova Terra renounced the authority of the High Lords of Terra and declared independent rule over the entire Segmentum Pacificus, effectively splitting the Imperium into two rival power centers. The period was marked by civil wars, disputes over trade rights, shifting loyalties, and widespread corruption tied to Chaos cults, and it directly triggered the disastrous 21st Founding of Space Marines and the summoning of the Grey Knights to combat emerging threats. The Interregnum finally ended with the outbreak of the religious wars known as the Cataclysm of Souls, as the Ecclesiarchy reasserted control and reshaped the Imperium into a more overtly religious state.

Lorebeards

Hey Loreseekers!
Here's a poll for Saturday's Lorebeards 40k stream; pick the one you want Ross and Alexis to cover on August 1st.

Arkhan Land was a famed, notably irreligious technoarchaeologist of the ancient Mechanicum who rose to prominence during the early Great Crusade after leading an expedition into the ruins of Mars's Librarius Omnis. There he recovered lost Standard Template Construct data, giving humanity the designs for the Land Raider battle tank, the Land Speeder, and the Land Crawler utility vehicle—all technologies bearing his name. Later in life he was drawn into the Horus Heresy's climactic battles, surviving a perilous mission and being pressed into service defending the Eternity Gate during the Siege of Terra.

The Adeptus Mechanicus is the Imperium's priesthood of technology, based on Mars, responsible for building and maintaining humanity's weapons, starships, and war machines. Descended from the ancient Mechanicum that survived the Dark Age of Technology and the Age of Strife, its Tech-Priests worship the Machine God, replace their flesh with augmetics in pursuit of mechanical "perfection," and are led by the Fabricator-General of Mars, who sits among the High Lords of Terra. Bound to the Imperium as allies rather than subjects under an ancient treaty, they command their own military forces—including the Skitarii and the god-machine Titans—and pursue an endless "Quest for Knowledge" to recover lost technology, even though a faction known as the Dark Mechanicum turned to Chaos during the Horus Heresy and persists to this day.

Abaddon the Despoiler is the Warmaster of Chaos and supreme commander of the Black Legion, having claimed that title after slaying his former master, the Chaos Space Marine Ezekyle Abaddon rose from First Captain of the original Sons of Horus during the Horus Heresy, surviving the death of Horus at the Emperor's hands and going on to reforge the shattered Legion into the Black Legion. For ten millennia he has led repeated, escalating invasions of the Imperium known as the Black Crusades, each one growing more devastating than the last, driven by his singular ambition to succeed where Horus failed and finally topple the Imperium of Man. In recent lore, his Thirteenth Black Crusade stands as one of the most catastrophic assaults the Imperium has ever suffered, cementing Abaddon's status as arguably the single greatest threat to humanity's survival in the grim darkness of the far future.
