Hello it’s Transittown.
Welcome to my channel. I’m a born and raised Canadian transit enthusiast and have been a huge train and bus fan since I was in preschool and my first favourite mode of transportation was the streetcars of Toronto until I got a little older and started to like all public transport modes such as TTC subways and buses and Go trains, Go buses and buses from around communities in the Greater Toronto Area.
I also love to travel and record trains and buses elsewhere.

Happy Thursday February 12, 2026. I am very happy to announce that construction is finally starting on another new Go station in Toronto to connect Lansdowne subway station on Line 2 Bloor-Danforth. That station starting work on is the upcoming Bloor-Lansdowne Go on the Barrie Line. This way, Go trains can connect to subways and LRTs nice and quickly and smoothly at the Lansdowne and Caledonia stations. Bloor-Lansdowne will also offer an alternative route downtown from the Barrie Go line via TTC Line 2 if travelling to Bloor-Yonge station, which is downtown. And at Caledonia, that’ll be a new direct route for any Barrie Go line commuters going to midtown Toronto via Line 5. Videos of mine will be underway upon completion and opening of each new Toronto Barrie Line Go station. It’ll be a while till then, but videos including those future stations are on my list of future videos. Sorry I couldn’t make the Line 5 opening ceremony. However, I am currently planning out my first Line 5 video. Hope you have a wonderful day.

Relieving Transit Project Update of 2026
Hi & Happy Wednesday February 4, 2026.
I am so happy to announce that it’s fully clear and official that this coming weekend is a big transit weekend for people, transit workers and enthusiasts across Toronto and the area. What a relief this finally is that it’s safe at last to open Toronto’s slowest built transit line, Line 5 Eglinton Crosstown LRT. However, just under a week ago, they found an issue that led to some doubts about February 8 for opening on that exact date. But now that that’s fixed, the line is now ready for service this coming weekend. However, I am glad they found this one last issue right away and immediately addressed it. When that one last issue occurred, that was part of the reason I had still had a little skepticism about the exact date of February 8, but now all my skepticism is gone and I am no longer having any doubts or concerns. Trains sometimes do have to slam on their emergency brakes. One thing about this weekend, I wanted to come to the opening ceremony of Toronto’s slowest to be built LRT, but I have family plans and am gonna be away and unfortunately can’t make it for the LRT service ceremony. But I do hope you all attending have an amazing time. I’ll do my first Line 5 video after I return. But this month, I’ll still look forward to celebrating Line 5. Now LRT and Go trains will closely connect each other at each end of Line 5 at Kennedy & Mt Dennis Stations. A big thanks to @OurToronto for sharing the official opening day update. Sorry I can’t make it this weekend, but I was happy to have made the Line 6 opening ceremony on December 7, 2025 just before Christmas without any plans getting in the way. However, whichever day I go to do my first Line 5 ride, it will not be free all day for me anytime outside the public ceremony, but that’s okay with me because I plan to do a full ride from end to end and get some in service photos and clips from the exterior POV. Thank god Line 5 will no longer be a ghost rail line. Parts of the cause of this 6 year delay for the line to enter service was due to budget overruns. Anyways hope everyone has a wonderful time this weekend at the big celebration. I won’t say anything just yet about whether I’ll be able to make the opening of the Scarborough busway to open later this year after the summer. Faster and more reliable buses will closely then connect with Line 2 and Line 5 trains at Kennedy. The future rapid bus in Scarborough will replace the former Scarborough RT. But Go train service at Kennedy Station at off peak times and on weekends is still only hourly in each direction due to single track portions still remaining and not yet being double track. But weekend Go train service at Mt Dennis is now half hourly and at off peak times. But the second trains are short turn ones that only go as far as Bramalea, but they should all closely connect LRT trains at Mt Dennis. And Line 5 and UPX trains should very well connect smoothly with each other there since UPX service is every 15 minutes to and from the airport. Anyways hope you have a wonderful rest of your week as well as a wonderful weekend with the big transit ceremony.
Take care everyone.

2026 Winter Weather Brief Talk
Hi again,
I wanted to make another post about how the weather to start 2026 has been so far. This honestly has been one of the coldest winters we’ve had since 2019. In 2019 I remember the big freeze we had. It was a mild start to that year at around New Year’s, but plunged right down as January went on. Also this was the first white New Year’s we’ve had in so many years, in which I just can’t count how many due to years before this being so mild to end off and start past years till now. Also another trend Canada saw this year’s winter season was one of the coldest snaps ever recorded in 50 years. Also I never seen this much snow in Toronto since I was a child and it’s kinda brought me back to my childhood this year with record breaking snowfall. I mean 2019 had quite a lot too from how cold it was then. This should be a very good year so far for winter sport lovers with how cold it’s been and the record breaking snow. In early January this year and between Christmas Day and New Year’s of 2025 there was a bit of a break from the extreme cold, but so far this year should overall be very good for doing winter sports like skiing, sledding or snowboarding etc. Anyways hope you stay safe in this weather and have a wonderful rest of your week.
