Am I Hearing God’s Voice or My Own? | Derek Dunn
Today, I want to talk about how to hear the voice of God. A lot of people either think God doesn’t speak anymore or that some believers have a special hotline to heaven. But the truth is, God does want to speak to you—through the Holy Spirit.
It’s not always an audible voice, though God can do that. More often, it’s a leading or impression from the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:26 tells us that those led by the Spirit are sons of God. But to hear from God, you’ve got to develop your prayer life. It’s not just about listing off your requests; it’s about spending time in His presence, getting to know His voice, like how I know my wife’s voice in a crowd.
How Does God Speak?
Here’s how God often speaks:
Impressions: You feel a gentle nudge in your spirit, a sense of direction or knowing.
Promptings: A stronger push, like when you feel compelled to call someone or do something.
Stirring: Sometimes God stirs our emotions, like when Paul felt provoked seeing idols in Athens (Acts 17:16).
Your Conscience: God often speaks through peace or conviction in your heart.
Scripture: The Holy Spirit will remind you of scriptures you’ve read when you need them most.
Don’t Overcomplicate It
God is speaking, but sometimes we overcomplicate it. Listen for the subtle ways He’s leading you. Spend time in prayer, read the Word, and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you. He’s not far off—He’s right there, ready to speak.

Learn What’s BLOCKING Your Breakthrough… Follow These Steps | Derek Dunn
Are you feeling stuck? Maybe it feels like no matter how hard you pray, your breakthrough just isn’t happening. The truth is, God’s already positioned you for victory, but something might be standing in the way. Let’s talk about how to identify what’s blocking you and how to move forward into your breakthrough.
God Is the God of Breakthrough
We’re living in a tough world—rising inflation, opposition to our Christian values, struggles in our personal lives. We get hard-pressed on every side, but God is with us through it all. He promises that we’re more than conquerors in Christ Jesus. So why does it sometimes feel like we’re stuck? Here’s the deal: breakthrough isn’t just about getting through tough times—it’s about breaking through resistance and stepping into victory.
Pressing Through Resistance
Breakthrough happens when we push past the obstacles and keep pressing forward. Just like climbing a mountain, it’s tough going up, but the view at the top is worth it. Maybe you’re struggling with finances, relationships, or health, but if God said He would provide, trust that He will. Sometimes it takes a fight, but the breakthrough is coming if you don’t give up.
Prayer and Fasting for Breakthrough
When Daniel prayed, the angel told him that God had sent the answer, but there was war in the heavens. Daniel’s persistence brought the breakthrough. Some breakthroughs require more than prayer—they need fasting. Fasting helps us align our emotions and our spirit, bringing clarity and focus. When you’re feeling stuck, consider fasting along with your prayers.
What’s Blocking You?
Ask yourself: what’s in my hand? Just like Moses, when God asked him what he had, Moses didn’t see the potential in his staff. But when he surrendered it to God, that simple staff became a tool of miracles. Don’t underestimate what’s already in your hand—surrender it to God, and watch Him work.
Let Go of What’s Holding You Back
Sometimes, the very thing that’s blocking us is what we’re holding on to. Whether it’s a job, a mindset, or a relationship, God might be asking you to let go so you can step into the new thing He has for you. It’s scary to leave your comfort zone, but breakthrough requires trust. Hannah prayed for a son, and when God gave her Samuel, she gave him back to God. Her trust allowed Samuel to become one of the greatest prophets.
Speak to Your Mountain
Isaiah 45:2 says God will level the mountains before you. Whatever your mountain is—debt, health issues, or struggles in your family—start speaking to it. Declare that God is bigger than your problem. Jesus said that with faith, we can tell the mountain to move, and it will. So, speak life over your situation and watch God move.
Conclusion: Your Breakthrough Is Coming
God is the Lord of the breakthrough, and He’s ready to do it for you. Don’t let fear, doubt, or comfort hold you back. Surrender what’s in your hand, speak to your mountain, and trust God to bring the victory.

Standing Up for Our Values: A Call to Action by Pastor Derek Dunn
In light of recent events at the 2024 Olympics, it’s imperative that we address the issues head-on. The opening ceremony featured content that was not only inappropriate but also deeply disrespectful to our Christian faith. This cannot go unchallenged.
The ceremony included explicit imagery and mockery of sacred Christian symbols, such as the Lord’s Supper. This blatant disregard for decency and respect is a stark reminder of the moral decline infiltrating our society, particularly through the promotion of Pride-related content and agendas that undermine traditional values.
We cannot remain silent. Silence is often seen as consent, and we cannot afford to consent to this degradation of our morals and beliefs. It’s time for the church and all people of goodwill to stand up and speak out against this.
Here’s what we need to do:
1. Speak Out: Use every platform available to voice your disapproval. Whether it’s social media, community meetings, or direct communication with policymakers, make your stance known. If you're attending church, address this issue from the pulpit and encourage your congregation to use their voices.
2. Boycott and Withdraw Support: If you support the Olympics, consider pulling your funding and viewership until there is a public apology and accountability for those responsible.
3. Engage Politically: Write to your senators, congressmen, and other officials. Demand that they take action against the promotion of such offensive content.
4. Promote Respect for All Religions: Just as it would be unacceptable to mock symbols of other religions, we must demand the same respect for Christianity.
5. Educate and Mobilize: Encourage your community to understand their rights and use them effectively. Provide them with the necessary contact information and tools to make their voices heard.
6. Respond with Wisdom and Love: While it’s important to be firm, we must also respond with wisdom and love. Anger and aggression will not lead to constructive change.
The time has come to reclaim our values and demand respect for our beliefs. By taking a stand, we protect not only our faith but also the integrity of future generations. Let’s not allow this moment to pass without making a difference. Use your voice, and together, let’s bring about change.

Christianity AND Politics | How Can The Two REALLY Work Together?
Christianity and Politics
Today, I want to delve into a topic that’s both timely and relevant, especially here in America—Christianity and politics. This subject is particularly important as we approach election season, but it’s also applicable to people around the world. I believe it's crucial for us to discuss how we, as Christians, should engage in politics.
Historical Context
First, let’s clarify a common misconception about the First Amendment. It ensures the separation of church and state to prevent government interference in religious practices. However, this separation does not mean that Christians should be excluded from politics. Historically, Christian principles significantly influenced the founding of the United States, with many early leaders being guided by their faith.
Christian Engagement in Politics
As Christians, we have both the right and the responsibility to vote, influence laws, and participate in civil government. This engagement should be conducted with respect for the beliefs of others, balancing our personal convictions with public discourse. It’s not just our right but our duty to be involved in shaping our society according to our values.
Controversial Topics
When it comes to controversial topics like abortion, we need to adhere to biblical teachings while fostering respectful dialogue. We must stand firm in our convictions but also understand and respect differing viewpoints. Our goal is to remain active in various societal sectors, including government, education, and media, to uphold and promote our values.
Role in Society
It’s clear to me that Christians should not shy away from political involvement. Instead, we should use our faith as a foundation to contribute positively to society and governance. By being active and engaged citizens, we can help shape a just and moral society that reflects our values in the democratic process.
I urge my fellow Christians to understand our rights, exercise our responsibilities, and influence our communities through informed and respectful participation in the political sphere. We must respect the beliefs of others while standing firm in our own values, ensuring that our faith guides our contributions to society and governance.
In conclusion, Christianity and politics are not like oil and water; they can mix and work together. As Christians, we should get involved, pray, vote, and influence the world around us, making a positive impact on society. This engagement is crucial for fostering a just and moral society that reflects Christian values in the democratic process. Let’s embrace our role and make a difference.
