WARNING: LONG WINDED COMPLAINING AHEAD!!

Rivals of Aether was the subject of my first 2 videos and it’s no secret it’s one of my favorite games of all time. Rivals of Aether 2 came out with its full release today, and I was so excited! This has been my most anticipated game by a lot ever sense it was announced. After each announcement I got even more excited, but even still I saw some design decisions I disagreed with. The basic rps grab system, the changed wall jump system, ledges even. But I swept them under the rug because IT’S DAN he could never do us wrong. I am beyond disappointed and annoyed to say I was right more than I feared. The smooth feeling of rivals one is replaced with unnecessary added restrictions and heaps of end lag added to each move. It feels like what used to be a sprawling combo tree where each player could have an equally effective and completely different game plan is now a hope their I frames run out while my hit box is still out game. The game objectively isn’t even that bad. I would say it’s better than multiverses but worse than slap city. But as a game I was this excited for and have been waiting for multiple years I am losing hope that Dan can fix this. From what I see the general perception of the game is that they love it but from what I hear from more dedicated rivals 1 players is the same feeling as me. It’s like they made a smash sequel rather than a rivals sequel. I really don’t want to play rivals 2 in its current state, but I don’t want to play rivals 1 when all tournaments have stopped. Not that I ever attend them really, but the game feels so much more alive when people play it at the top level. Almost like you know what your ultimate goal is. There is probably more I could say like pointing out even more infuriating decisions made like how zetter can only airdodge cancel up b when it’s grounded now, but this I think sums up my feeling fairly well. In the end I still want the game to preform well and maybe it will get more rivals like in the future. Until then I really cant bring myself to play any more of it sadly.

I won’t be finishing my animal well play-through on twitch this weekend because I will be staying away from my setup for a while. I will try to continue Monday if I can. No promises though because my week schedules are usually pretty full. I know no one watched the stream anyway and no one cares, but… shut up!
