The 98th Academy Awards ceremony was embroiled in controversy over the production team's actions during the Best Original Song awards ceremony. The organizers played the final music during the acceptance speech of the composers of "Golden," a song written for the animated film "K-Pop Demon Hunters."

The incident occurred when songwriter EJAE took to the stage to receive the statuette along with her colleagues: Mark Sonnenblick, Kwak Jun-gyu, Lee Yoo-han, Nam Hee-dong, Seo Jung-hoon and Teddy Park.

EJAE only managed to speak for about 20 seconds before the orchestra began playing the melody signaling the end of her allotted time. Despite her emotional and brief speech, the organizers didn't let her finish. In her address, EJAE managed to say the following: "When I was growing up, people made fun of me for liking K-pop. But now everyone sees our song and the Korean lyrics. I'm so proud. And I realized that this song and this award aren't about success, but about resilience. I'm just so grateful to our team..."
