“Duffy Romerica” is a handle for this quiet corner of the internet. This channel records a long pilgrimage back to myself and my only home: Cebu. I met my wife here 30 years ago; our hearts remained here even while my profession kept us in Norway. I am a man from the West, yet I’ve come to understand the heart’s compass that draws an OFW home: the longing for a life that feels whole.
This isn’t about “retiring to paradise.” It’s the diary of a man completing the final terms of a long contract. Our home here was built as a promise—a sanctuary for this next chapter as grandparents.
My advice for those moving here: Bring a life with you. Don’t seek a new identity; live your existing one more fully. Start with love and trust. I have no connection to “expat” circles; I prefer the quiet of my garden, my Filipino friends, and a good book.
Soon, the contract ends. I will live an authentic, undisturbed life. I am not a “content creator,” just a man sharing the arriving.

Long time no chat. A newborn arrived, making me a grandfather. Time seems to move like a glacier these days. My son, already 26... unthinkable.
Back to Cebu soon, wife by my side. In the meantime, I've been pounding the trails. National parks, fresh air, feeling small against the mountains.
When not hiking, it's been forest roads and mountain peaks here in Norway. The Ranger and rooftop tent have seen good use.

As few viewers of this Channel have shown any interest in my videos from Cebu, I decided to create a second channel where I only will share videos of my other passions - Overlanding, 4x4, and off-road adventure on the many backroads in The Philippines. As my car is still new this year I decided to start of slowly with some mild road trips that I planned for my wife and me. This is the second trip I filmed and more are in the works.

Bibingka (baked glutinous rice cake) and Sikwate (ground-up cacao beans) served with mango.
My wife tells me that this is one of the best tasting Bibingka's found in Cebu. It is big as your hand and tastes fantastic. Can you guess where in Cebu this is ? I give you a clue.
