I make videos based off the ABC show “The Rookie” featuring Nathan Fillion as John Nolan, Melissa O’Neil as Lucy Chen, Eric Winter as Tim Bradford and many more.

I fell in love with the show when Season 7 started, and I binged it all in just a few weeks. I want to make content based around it since there really isn’t much out there

My Season 8 Episode 15 “Survive The Streets" REVIEW (Tipsy Edition!!!)

So we’ve got another documentary episode, despite how much of a terrible reception the previous one had. And it also had Abigail in it, despite, again, how much of a terrible reception the previous one had.

While I’m very confused on the creative decision of this episode, I also can say that this definitely is not the worst of the documentary episodes. Far from it. I’d say it’s the second best one out of the 5, behind Double Trouble.

I enjoyed the amount of Lopez screentime this episode, as well as the Nolan/Celina duo throughout the episode.

The callback to Rich is awesome, and I think that this was a great way to tie things together within the universe.

Dropout wasn’t the worst in this episode either. It was better and less obnoxious than their first appearance a couple of months ago.

HOWEVER, I think this episode just continued to spin the dagger in what I consider the death of Abigail’s character. They completely took away any care I had for her character, and now she’s just became “the documentary girl to me”, completely overtaking her great role in the first few seasons. And honestly, with how much that disappoints me, that takes this episode down a lot more for me.

Overall, while I still am on the “stop the documentary episodes” team, this one was far from the worst. I give it a D tier.

By the way, one other update:

I’m gonna be taking a small break from shorts for the next few weeks. My editor’s coming to visit me IRL so I’m trying to give him less work leading up to it so he isn’t stressed out lol.

I’ll have my review post for Episode 15 out later tonight

ABC’s coming back for Round 3 I guess. 4 of my more recent videos have gotten claimed and I’m sure it’s not the end. Not gonna let them drag us down though, and I’m working on appealing any claims they send my way. Thank you all for the ongoing support!

Despite it not even being out yet, my next video for tomorrow aged SO UNBELIEVABLY BADLY. So bad to the point where it's comical. STAY TUNED.

My Season 8 Episode 13 "The Thinker" REVIEW

LOVED this episode. Gonna start off with that. I'm really sad that Wesley had no shot in the election and that he's definitely being fired next episode, but I was so happy to see the party at the end where everyone celebrated him. He felt kind of like an outsider of the group at times and the party proved that he wasn't. Was all SUPER cute.

I also really liked the "boyfriend is actually robbing drug dealers with an ex-captain" plotline. It was a unique side plot that didn't intrude on the rest of the episode.

And Seth... I'm sure this is the end of his run on the show, but I think this was a great way for his story to finish up. He was able to finally speak all of his truth, even if it meant he was never gonna join the LAPD again. Maybe he can make some random cameos over the rest of the show's run, because I warmed up to him and don't want him fully removed.

Now to say a couple of things about Rodge:

My thoughts on Rodge this episode are so interesting to me, because it truly cements my opinions on him as a character and Zander as a performer. I thought the music in the episode was fantastic, and it shows that Zander is an amazing musician... but there are quite a few parts in the episode where you can tell that he still doesn't have this acting thing down. Someone's gotta give bro some acting lessons before his next appearance lol.

But I was also VERY excited to finally see a romantic moment between these two, because I'm sure you guys saw my most recent video where I mentioned that they felt like siblings or friends in pretty much every interaction. Well, not anymore! Even if the kiss was interrupted, they still did it. FINA-FREAKING-LLY!

Anyways, I'm giving this episode a low S tier, underneath The Red Place but tied with His Name Was Martin. Gonna be a memorable episode that highlights this season, for sure.

My Season 8 Episode 12 "Spy Games" REVIEW

Wow, genuinely just wow. Where do I even begin with this episode? I mean, I think first thing to say is that I loved it, but a lot of this may be word vomit because there's so much to talk about. Bare with me on this.

I think how they handled the "documentary" part of this episode (if you can even call it that) was actually pretty good. It wasn't the focus of the episode, but rather a primary piece of a single plotline within the episode. If they continue formatting the documentary stuff like that, they will grow on me.

Now let's talk about our MVP of the episode: ZUZU! Bro just swooped in, helped the LAPD for an entire episode and then dipped when the warehouse got raided in Indonesia. I feel like this isn't the last we'll see of Zuzu, however it's interesting that Zuzu had the change of heart that it did after the events of his first appearance last season. Zuzu intrigues me so I hope he does somehow resurge.

Monica was actually interesting too. I wonder what her motivation for actually helping Wesley was. Was it that she saw genuine remorse in his eyes? Was it to just get that Aston Martin? Or was it to get back at Elijah? I guess we won't know until later.

Speaking of Elijah, guess who's back stirring up more drama. I was lowkey alright with him returning this season, but if this is how he's gonna start his return... Eh, didn't really care for it. Anyone could've done what he did there. I'll not go too hard on it though since I'm sure he'll be back soon. Again, just didn't care for him here.

Luna has the audacity to still be mad at Wade? SHE was the one catching feelings for another man, then when Wade figures it out, HE is the problem?? I know they're gonna talk probably in the next episode, but I'm hoping that she truly is sorry for what she did (and not just because she got caught). Somehow my doubts are growing, though... I had my theory that it would either be Luna and Wade or Bailey and Nolan that would have an unfixable part of their marriage start to crumble, but given Bailey's moving back to LA, I have to put that focus onto Luna and Wade... I would be truly sad if that happened, but again, she can say she wouldn't "act on her feelings" but she already was; just emotionally rather than making the jump.

But overall, I'm giving this episode a high A-Tier. With the exception of some things I didn't really care for, I thought it was a great episode! Even with the Luna stuff getting me ticked off at her, it's still good TV so it doesn't take away points from the episode. I truly am now on the edge of my seat for the next episode to figure out so much of what happens next.

My Season 8 Episode 11 "Aftermath" REVIEW

SPOILERS AHEAD

I know I'm writing this literally minutes after it aired, and I'm sure that's gonna be part of why this review is more heated than it probably would be a few days later, and I'll put an updated review out then, but until then, indulge me because I have to say something about this one.

I didn't like it... basically at all. I liked Skip Tracer Randy's appearance, and Smitty was funny. And it was good to see Harrison Novak again... until it wasn't. Totally screwed up his character for what?? Harrison had already been established as a very prideful person. What gain would he have to faking a confession? It should've meant nothing to him and had no upside.

This whole episode was just "Liam's getting out of jail, and we're gonna kick the main cast multiple times to really hammer in this fact". I like Liam Glasser as a character and villain, but man they didn't have to kick Wesley while he was down and then shoot his foot right after. It feels like nowadays, there's too many crooked cops, lawyers, you name it, and it's just getting annoying at this point. Somehow I'd rather see Monica again to get her closer to the end of her plotline vs. seeing Vivian go down basically a similar route.

Then, Lucy telling Martin's sister about what happened... I can already tell that's gonna backfire in some way, and it's going to make her healing progress so much worse. I think Tim is struggling to separate being a boyfriend and being a boss, because this was a time where he should've put his foot down and said "Don't do this. There's no upside."

And now, because of what's happening in the Pentagon with Bailey, we're gonna have the next 2 whole episodes dedicated to her based on the synopsis info. All I can say was this was not a good day to be a Rookie fan.

F tier episode for me; worst in the season, and probably bottom 10% overall. But maybe I'm being too harsh and recency is hurting my judgement. You guys can let me know. I have to reiterate that I love this show. I wouldn't make videos about it and keep up with it so heavily if I didn't. But I also can identify when an episode was crap.

It’s time for some video ideas!!

I know I’ve asked for video ideas a couple of times in the past, but a lot of the ideas I’ve received aren’t able to be made into full long form videos since there wasn’t enough content for them.

BUT, now that I’m making SHORTS too, I can do those ideas for shorts if they aren’t long enough for a full video! So give me your ideas and if I like them, they can at least become a short!!

I appreciate anyone with any suggestions!

My Season 8 Episode 10 "His Name Was Martin" REVIEW (with bonus girlfriend review)

SPOILERS AHEAD

So this was the episode that the show was hyping up for the last few weeks to be on the same level as "Day of Death", so let me start with this: I think this was a great episode!... but definitely not Day of Death level.

To me, it's the second best episode of the season, behind The Red Place. I really enjoyed the intensity of the mainline zombie plotline. And now we finally have Lucy's first kill, so I'm sure that in the next episode, we'll see everything about what happens with that.

I also am really starting to like Dash/Drone Kid. I think comparing him to Zander, Beckett is actually a pretty good actor, and he's had purpose in the episodes he's been in. I hope he does continue to be a part of the show, but I'm really hoping that they don't overdo him to where he starts to overstay his welcome.

With Wade and Luna, I can't believe Luna thought that Wade was gonna just be all good with it after a little bit. He said it himself: she can't dictate how he processes it, and honestly, I'm sensing a lack of empathy/remorse from her. I don't know where this part is going, but I'm here for it.

And finally, I think that the whole Wesley/Liam Glasser stuff is crazy. And I FULLY believe that the other lawyer did it. But it'll be up to Lopez to figure that out. I just hope it doesn't become another Harper and Liam situation where the threats end up tarnishing the case.

But overall, despite me saying it's not the best episode of the season, I'm still giving it an S-Tier; it's just a lower S-Tier than The Red Place. I was captivated by the whole thing, and some of the shots were incredible. I just wish that they didn't hype it up the way they did, because I think I was somewhat disappointed comparatively.

But now ya'll get to hear what my girlfriend thinks! Here you go:

So far season 8 has definitely been one of, and has the potential to be my favorite season. I haven't been a fan of Glasser but even though the season has mostly been revolved around him, I think that the episodes are high quality and entertaining.

For specifically episode 10 it is my second favorite this season, behind The Red Place, but I agree with my boyfriend that is not on the level of Day of Death. There were many times this episode that made me laugh out loud- the one that stood out to me the most was Nolan throwing the glasses at Drone Kid. I think that they could have added a jump scare especially with the handheld camera to make it stand out even more than other episodes.

My hope is that they make the killing affect Lucy more than it did Nolan. For him it is only mentioned once in a while and from my memory it didn't change his character as much as I would expect it to. Whether it affects her police work or her relationship with Tim, I feel that it is important that she doesn't move on right away.

Both Luna and Bailey have been pissing me off this season and I feel that one of the two couples will end up getting a divorce at some point- though it seems that Bailey will still be in more episodes to come with how the episode ended.

Overall this episode is in my top five of the show, but I don't think that it will be remember as much as the other fan favorite episodes.
