I am a huge fan of raised bed gardening! I love it because you control the soil, it's easy to maintain, and you can enjoy healthier plants. A big bonus is that you get an earlier start on the season due to the raised beds warming up quicker in spring than traditional gardens.

Check out my eBook on "All About Raised Beds": www.kitchengardenexpert.com/kge-ebooks. Here you can learn the pros/cons of raised beds along with how to build one as well as what to plant in it!

Ok! I have to admit! I am very particular about my seeds! "Why" you may ask? I want to be able to plant my seeds from my own plants. I've been gardening for a while and because I use and plant seeds from and for my own garden, I am able to save money AND I know how to get an exact copy of a certain plant!

The seeds I use for my vegetable and herb gardens are organic heirloom seeds. I use any kind of seed for my annual and perennial flowers as long as they won't be eaten.

Here a few resources for you on the topic:

I try very hard to recycle, reuse, and renew things around the house! Composting is one of those things that we have done for many years. I love it because I know exactly what is going into the compost pile!

Here is a long #youtube version of how to set up a simple compost bin: https://youtu.be/LexEqpmvgbI?si=xbzZt...

For some fun check out my YouTube shorts and the "stuff" that I put into the compost bin! #shorts #kitchengardenexpert

Everyone has their own style on what to do with extending their growing season! I've tried the indoor garden with grow lights and planting cold hardy plants in the past. This year is my first year with a greenhouse! I will have to admit, it's been quite a learning curve!
Check out how it all started... https://youtu.be/6Be6x26SHDw?si=kt1sM...

So, I'm curious and have to ask...

Which method do you prefer for extending your growing season in winter?
