If this is your first winter in Reno, you might be looking outside at the snow and wondering… *Does spring actually come here?*
It does. And when it arrives, it’s magic.
In Reno, spring doesn’t always flip on like a light switch. It unfolds slowly. The snow starts to melt along the foothills. The air softens. You’ll notice brighter evenings and that golden high-desert sunshine lingering a little longer each day.
By late March and April, the city feels different. Patios reopen. People dust off their bikes. The Truckee River starts flowing stronger with snowmelt, and walking paths fill up again. Weekends become about farmers markets, coffee dates outside, and spontaneous drives just to see how green the valleys are getting.
One of the most beautiful parts of spring here is the contrast. You can have blooming trees in town and still see snow on the peaks around us. It’s that perfect reminder of why living in Northern Nevada is so special — you get seasons, but you also get sunshine.
Spring is also when Reno feels especially social. After winter hibernation, everyone seems ready to be outside again. Neighborhood parks get busier. Community events pick back up. There’s an energy shift — lighter, brighter, hopeful.
If you’re new here, give it a couple of weeks. Watch how quickly the landscape changes. Take a walk along the river. Drive out toward the foothills at sunset.
Spring in Reno isn’t just a season — it’s a reset. And you’re going to love seeing it unfold. 🌷

Most people don’t realize this until after they move to Reno:
👉 the altitude alone can completely throw your body off for the first few weeks.
Reno sits at about 4,500 feet, and because we’re in the high desert, dehydration happens fast. Headaches, dry skin, fatigue, feeling “off” for no clear reason—it’s one of the most common things new arrivals message me about after they get here.
And that’s just one of many details people don’t usually think about when planning a move.
I recently put together a 30-day Reno relocation checklist that goes way beyond boxes and address changes. It covers the real-life stuff people wish they’d known earlier—like winter car prep, which neighborhoods get hit harder by snow, how to prepare for altitude, and the small lifestyle adjustments that make settling in so much smoother.
If you’re thinking about moving to Reno (even casually), this is the kind of info that can save you a lot of stress later. It’s especially helpful if you’re coming from a lower elevation or a warmer climate.
This guide is designed for:
• People still deciding if Reno is the right fit
• Future relocators in the planning phase
• Anyone who wants fewer surprises and a smoother landing
I walk through everything step by step, from 30 days out all the way through your first week living here—and yes, even things like why sunscreen is a year-round necessity in Northern Nevada.
If this sounds helpful, watch the full video guide! Newly posted on my channel.
It’s meant to be practical, honest, and very Reno-specific 💛
And if you’ve already made the move—feel free to chime in with what surprised you most!

One of the biggest surprises for people considering a move to Reno isn’t the weather or the casinos — it’s how dramatically different life can feel depending on the neighborhood you choose.
In Reno, two homes can be just 10–15 minutes apart and offer completely different lifestyles. One area might mean regular snow and mountain roads, while another rarely sees snow at all. Some neighborhoods feel historic and walkable, others are newer and suburban, and some are tucked near trails and open space. Choosing the right location matters just as much as choosing the right home.
That’s why I recently created a video guide walking through some of the best neighborhoods in Reno and Sparks, with a focus on livability — not just listings or price points.
In the guide, I cover:
• Family-friendly areas with parks, trails, and strong schools
• Neighborhoods with character and long-term value
• How geography affects snow, commuting, and daily routines
• Why some popular areas may not actually fit your lifestyle
This is especially helpful for buyers relocating from out of state who are trying to picture what everyday life in Reno really looks like beyond what you see online.
Reno offers an incredible variety of neighborhoods for such a compact city, and understanding those differences early can save time, stress, and costly mistakes.

Happy New Year, Reno friends! ✨
I hope everyone is settling into 2026 feeling refreshed and excited for what’s ahead. Whether you moved here recently or you’re still finding your rhythm in Northern Nevada, I’m so glad you’re here. 💛
As the year is just getting started, the Reno housing market is already picking up — and here’s a surprising fact that might catch you off guard:
Reno is still sitting at under 3 months of housing inventory.
That’s something we usually only see in very competitive markets, and it’s a big reason home values here have stayed strong even when other parts of the country feel uncertain.
For those of you who relocated here recently (or are still deciding if Reno is the right fit), this really matters. Between steady job growth, new infrastructure, and people continuing to move here for the lifestyle, our real estate market is being supported by real demand — not just hype.
I just released a new video that walks through what I believe the next five years of Reno real estate may look like, including:
Which areas could see the most growth
How commuting and infrastructure changes affect where people want to live
Why some homes will perform better than others
And what buyers should know if they’re thinking about purchasing here
If you’re planning to stay in Reno, buy a home, or simply want to understand the market a little better, this is a really helpful place to start.
I’d love to hear what part of Reno you ended up in — or what neighborhoods you’re still curious about.

Did you know the Tahoe Reno Industrial Center is one of the largest industrial parks in the entire world—and it’s right here in our backyard?
That single fact alone explains so much of what’s happening in our housing market. When you have Tesla, Google, Switch, Panasonic, Walmart, and other major players investing heavily in Northern Nevada, it creates a ripple effect: more jobs, stronger demand, rising property values, and long-term economic stability.
If you’ve been thinking about investing in Reno real estate—or even just curious about why so many people are moving here—you’ll want to check out the video guide I just released. I break down:
🏡 Why Reno continues to outperform similar cities in appreciation and rental growth
📊 Key KPIs showing how our market is staying resilient, even when others are softening
🚀 How our tech, healthcare, and manufacturing sectors are reshaping the future of Northern Nevada
💰 What makes Nevada’s tax structure so appealing, especially for remote workers and hybrid commuters
🌄 Lifestyle perks that help homes here hold value—from Lake Tahoe access to a growing arts, food, and outdoor scene
What makes Reno especially interesting is that it’s no longer a “let’s gamble and see what happens” market. We’re seeing proven appreciation, rising rents, and long-term infrastructure investment that signals sustained growth—not hype.
If you’re new to town, thinking about relocating, or just love staying educated on what’s happening here, this breakdown will give you a clear picture of why Reno has become such a smart place to put down roots or invest.

I had the chance to chaperone a school trip to the Fleischmann Planetarium & Science Center at UNR, and it was such a great reminder of one of Reno’s biggest perks: how much education, innovation, and culture we have right here in our backyard!
For anyone considering a move to the area, UNR is a major part of what makes Reno such a strong long-term place to put down roots.
✨ Why UNR Matters for New Residents:
• Career Opportunities: With standout Engineering and Computer Science programs, UNR attracts top-tier companies and talent—creating a strong job market for both newcomers and long-time locals.
• Community + Quality of Life: Museums, research centers, and cultural experiences like the planetarium are part of everyday life here, and they add so much value to the community.
• Housing Stability: Cities with major universities often benefit from steady demand for housing from students, faculty, and new businesses.
If you’re relocating to the Reno/Sparks area, know that you're joining a community with a bright, educated future—and endless opportunities, from stargazing nights to cutting-edge innovation. Welcome to the Biggest Little City! 🌟
