Vinod Chopra Films have produced films like Munna Bhai MBBS, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, 3 Idiots and PK winning extensive national and international acclaim.
Vidhu Vinod Chopra's first documentary An Encounter With Faces, highlighted the plight of India's destitute children. It was nominated for an Oscar in the Documentary Short Subject category in 1978. Since then, he has directed films like Khamosh, Parinda, 1942 - A Love Story, Kareeb, Mission Kashmir, Eklavya - The Royal Guard and Broken Horses. Of these, Parinda and Eklavya - The Royal Guard were nominated as India's official entries to the Oscars in the Best Foreign Film category in 1989 and 2007 respectively.

From working tirelessly on the perfect script and laboriously hiring the right cast and crew, #VidhuVinodChopra's period romance, 1942: A Love Story, defined the 90's for an entire generation and its legacy still persists to this day!
The first challenge was recruiting the great #RDBurman. In the 80s, the late music maestro found himself being criminally overlooked by commercial filmmakers in favour of new composers. The record label even threatened to withhold payment if VVC hired Burman for the film. But VVC persisted because he was convinced that Burman was the ideal choice for his pre-Independence love narrative. The result, as we know, is pure magic.
Next, #AnilKapoor was convinced that he couldn't play a romantic lead anymore — considering himself too old, seeing as he was a father of 3. But then, he heard the songs "Kuch na Kaho" and "Ek Ladki ko Dekha toh Aisa Laga" and was sure that these songs would solidify his legacy for generations.
Coupled with challenges like #JackieShroff initially turning down the role and a filmmakers’ union protest right before shooting the film's climax, there was a lot that could go wrong — but #VVC pulled it off with his singular vision.
In the end, the direction, the writing, the performances, the music, the choreography by #SanjayLeelaBhansali and #FarahKhan, the production design by #NitinDesai and costumes by #BhanuAthaiya all came together in unison to create one of Hindi cinema's most memorable and impactful films.
Banking on R.D. Burman, when most had given up on the veteran composer, braving protests from a filmmakers’ union to shoot his climax, and a solid thorough fictional recreation of a key part of the nation’s history, the result was a beautiful love story that still makes us swoon to this day.
