It Began in London

❤️As a 40+ Content Creator, I decided to finally follow my passion and put my photography and videography skills to good use sharing my love for travelling, capturing the beauty and essence of various locations to inspire others to discover and immerse themselves in the experience.

The aim is to:

❤️Share recommendations and travel tips
❤️Document my personal experiences about creating this YouTube channel in the travel niche
❤️Inspire other fellow travellers seeking guidance, tips, and advice
❤️Show that it's never too late to follow your passions and make your dreams come true
❤️Remind you that life is short and is meant to be lived

I am Lao-Canadian 🇱🇦🇨🇦 born in a town near Montreal, Canada, from Lao parents. I have moved to and lived in London for over 20 years now, and I thought, what better location to start this journey as a travel content creator than my own backyard!

This is when and where the journey commences; quite simply, it began in London...❤️🇬🇧

It Began in London

🇨🇦✈️🌍🇬🇧 Over 20 years ago, travelling to London from Canada was just an idea in my mind. When I spoke about it, it was often met with the same response:

“That’s not real life”
“You’re too curious”
“You’re wondering too much.”
“You’re running away from something.”
“You’re lost.”

Did I have all the answers? Nope
Did I know exactly what I needed to do? Nope
Did I wait for perfect timing? Nope
Did I wait for anybody? Nope

🧭 I went out there and found out. Because there’s no perfect timing. There’s no single perfect answer that will tell you exactly what to do next. And nothing is promised either. But when you go for it, keep moving forward, stay grateful, and don’t give up - you are always rewarded.

There’s no way I could have predicted all the experiences I’ve had over the years living in London. I couldn’t even have predicted that I would end up here in the first place.

🎒There was literally nothing here for me. All I had was a backpack. But once you open yourself up to what life has to offer, your path begins to light up with every step you take - the right opportunities, the right people, the right job, the right message, the right signs.✨️

Everything happens for a reason, and our job is to find out what that reason is. Connecting the dots along the way.✨️

To this day, my mindset remains the same: open to possibilities and opportunities. They never stop coming. They are everywhere.✨️

Life sometimes has a way of distracting us from actually living it.

But when we remember that we’re not here for long, we start to make each moment count. We begin to recognise distractions for what they are. If we focus on our passions - what makes us laugh, what makes us feel love and happiness - that’s a good sign.❤️

🌊Learn to ride each wave as it comes. Nothing is ever promised, but everything is there to gain.

Trust the process and follow the guidance with a grateful heart.🙏

Everything always falls into place. Always.♥️

It Began in London

❌This is not the video I originally planned to post...

I went to Bath at the beginning of March 2025 and, although it was an amazing short trip, the footage I took has been truly overwhelming to sort through and edit! As a result, I kept pushing back any other filming sessions because I wanted to complete the Bath video—which will now have to be split into different parts.

I finally accepted that I was nowhere near finishing the videos in time to post them.

I also realised that life kept moving, and I had already planned to visit the Sky Garden and cover the market at the same time. (See video below)

If I had waited to finish editing the Bath videos first, the Sky Garden event wouldn’t have gone live until next year! 😭

I don’t know why it’s taking me so long to edit a trip like that. I guess I’ll have to learn from this experience—how to better film, store, and edit more efficiently.

This is all part of the process. I hadn’t posted any long-form video in almost a month because the Bath content just wasn’t ready. And honestly? That didn’t feel great. I felt like a bit of a failure. 🙈

So I decided to set the Bath videos aside—for now—and work on something new and fresh to make sure I didn’t lose my momentum. The Bath project was starting to feel stagnant, and I felt like I wasn’t progressing.

But with this new video? It felt a bit easier. And I’m actually happy with how it turned out. 🥳

I can finally breathe a little easier, knowing that I can still film, edit, and post. I haven’t completely lost it!

❓Have you experienced an editing block before?

Now... back to Bath again. Wish me luck! 🤞

To be continued...

Much love,

✈I took absolutely forever to edit my latest video 🙈

Honestly, I've been so distracted with so many things lately that I end up feeling completely overwhelmed and froze out of fear of failure.

When you have momentum, make the most of it - it's so easy to get caught up in little things that don't align with the end goal.

In my case? I stop and rethink everything all over again! 🤪

But then I remembered, life is short. We have to focus on what makes sense and go all in.

We only get one shot at this life.

Keep going, one step at a time. Moving slow means nothing. It's just a pace.

In this video, I talk about the difference between being a traveller and a vacationer. Which one are you?

🌍It's okay if not everyone understand, just as it's okay for you not to understand someone else's journey.
Live and let live.

Learn to adapt to situations in order to live your best life.

Don't demand or expect anything from others.

Walk your own path and find ways to express what you're here to do.

You'll naturally align with the right circumstances, the right people, and the right opportunities.

Keep doing what you do.

🔴🤳My weekly LIVEs on TikTok (TT) have been such a rewarding experience, and I truly believe they've played a huge role in getting me this far on my journey.

They've helped me build confidence and shown me how to create a channel where a community can thrive and engage with one another. This wonderful community has now grown to be known as the "Kandi Krew" 🙏🥰

Thanks to the Kandi Krew, I've learnt that my love for creating videos has grown into something even bigger – the desire to share passion with the world.

It's given me the courage to step out there, do what I love, appreciate the beauty around us and connect with others along the way.

So here we go - from now on, I'll be posting my TikTok LIVE recordings weekly (TikTok LIVE Recordings playlist.)

The next big step? Hosting my first LIVE stream on YouTube!

This should push me out of my comfort zone once again, as I have no idea what to expect. Unlike TikTok, where familiar faces act as my anchors during LIVEs, YouTube will feel like uncharted territory.

Fingers crossed, I'll be able to bring the same community vibe over to YouTube eventually! 🤞

Until then, enjoy the Winter Lights 2025!

Much love,

K A N D I A N ♥

It Began in London

🚅After successfully filming on an Uber Boat and boarding a London train, I thought capturing footage on all forms of public transport would be a piece of cake by now. But it turns out that proximity to others plays a big role!

When the environment feels too intimate or intrusive, it becomes much harder to muster the camera to pull out the camera and film what's in front of you.

I felt confident as I entered the train station at London Bridge, but the moment I stepped into one of the carriages, it was as if all eyes were suddenly on me and the DJI Osmo Pocket 3.

Although the Pocket 3 is discreet, it's still a piece of equipment that not everyone is familiar with. Most people are often intrigued by it, drawing unwanted attention.

Nevertheless, I did my best to capture the experience of a London Tube journey - off peak!

Find out how I go on - watch the video below 👇

🌸Remember when I didn't manage to make it to Columbia Road Flower Market? Well, I'm pleased to announce that I went back last Sunday! 🥳💐

Columbia Road is absolutely charming and vibrant, and I can assure you, it's well worth the visit. It's a "not so hidden", hidden gem that not many people are aware of. Though it gets busy, it's still a pleasant place to wander around and explore.

Just 10min away from the hustle and bustle of Brick Lane, it's a must-visit on a Sunday morning or afternoon. Grab yourself a bunch of flowers, a coffee, a drink, and some lunch- it's the perfect spot in the East End, far from the tourist crowds of Central London.

The Flower Market is open from 8:00 to 15:00 every Sunday.

It was a bit challenging to navigate through the crowds to capture shots of the flowers, but I'm pleased with the final results! Let me know what you think!

Would you visit the flower market on your next trip to London?

If so, please enjoy!

Much love,

K A N D I A N ♥

It Began in London

First of all, THANK YOU TO THE 200+ SUBS so far!! 🙏🥳

In today's video, I reflect on the progress I've made and the confidence I've gained since starting my YouTube journey.

This journey has made me realise how much I've held myself back from creating videos due to some people-pleasing tendencies.

As I reflect on this, I encourage you to pursue your dreams and goals, work in silence, keep your head down, and push through. Like the hare in the fable of the hare and the tortoise... 🐰🐢

Remember, it's a journey, not a competition. Keep your head down and push through. Focus your energy, don't get distracted by negativity or toxicity, and most importantly don't let what others think stop you from doing what you love and moving the needle forward.

Until the next time!

Much love,

K A N D I A N ♥
