Starting tomorrow, YouTube will be implementing an AI that tracks the videos you watch and flag your age based on it. If you’re marked as under age, you’ll have a lot of features removed, and will have to give your ID or your face to verify if your above, which knowing AI is likely to happen.
Given how many people—including myself—like and watch what could be considered “childish” things to an AI, I’m worried for the future if this gets implemented into other social media spaces.
I know I don’t upload much, and that’s not changing anytime soon I’m afraid, so I don’t know how many people this will reach.
Do not give YouTube your ID, boycott YouTube if you have to, that’s what I’m doing. And if not, just stay safe.
