Live From Bitcoin Beach - El Salvador
What would you do if you sold everything, moved to El Salvador, and watched your first business fall apart? Most people would've booked the next flight home. Our latest guests stayed instead, and what they built next is now the reason dozens of entrepreneurs haven't quit.
If this were you, starting over in a country where nothing works the way you're used to, what would keep you there?

He saw Bitcoin sitting at $1 to $3 and couldn't buy any. Years later he asked his parents to put $10 on their credit card and they said it sounded like a scam. Then a $35,000 bank loan and a shop that lockdown closed after three months changed everything, and he tells that whole story in our latest episode. He runs Blink in El Salvador now.
Tell us in the comments: did you learn Bitcoin before you bought, or after?

Live From Bitcoin Beach - El Salvador
Our next guest found Bitcoin three times before he ever owned any. At 16 he couldn't find anything about it in Spanish. In university it was sitting at $1 to $3 and he had no exchange and no card. Years later he asked his parents for $10 on theirs and they said it sounded like a scam.
Everybody has a version of this. What stopped you?

Is El Salvador actually Bitcoin country, or is that just marketing?
Before you answer, the latest episode might change your mind twice. A banker admitted the one word in a company name that gets you BLACKLISTED from the financial system. In the same country, 122 families are becoming first-time homeowners by scanning a Bitcoin QR code.
Both things are true at the same time. Watch it, then tell us in the comments: Bitcoin country or just marketing? 👇

Everyone assumes Bitcoin prices people out.
El Zonte is now the most expensive place in El Salvador. Land here is untouchable. Development came fast and hard, and the families who'd lived on that land for years were the ones getting moved off it.
Renato Salazar has spent the last few years on the other side of that story, and this week he finally came into the studio to tell it.
What Bitcoin actually did here isn't what the headlines would have you guess.
And then there's the part nobody expects from Bitcoin country. A bank employee told Renato exactly what happens when your company name starts with Bitcoin. We get into it.
The credit card side of that story is worse. Renato walks through the fee stack, and then what the Bitcoin rails cost by comparison. It isn't close.
Bitcoin fixes this. Slowly, and with a fight.

Would you buy Bitcoin from a vending machine if it went straight to your cold wallet?
Edgar Borja, founder of K1 Technology in El Salvador, calls it the Bitcoin candy machine. Drop in a coin, and instead of candy, Bitcoin lands directly in a wallet only you control. Their new update works on Lightning and on-chain, and he says nothing else like it exists yet.
He's back on the show to demo it live, share what he saw inside Bolivia's currency crisis (banks pay 6 bolivianos per dollar, the street pays 10), and explain why he teaches private keys with crayons.
