Bear with us. Hi! Unfortunately there’s no video from us this week because we’ve been busy with Christmas and visiting family and friends before jumping on a plane to Bangkok on New Year’s Eve to spend three weeks adventuring in Thailand in an attempt to avoid some of the British winter (and get some new exciting content for you guys for future videos). Normal service will be resumed in a few weeks time but in the meantime we’ve uploaded a short video today recapping 2024.

We’ve been a bit quiet recently, we haven’t posted a lot and we’ve not put out a YouTube video for quite a while….here’s why…

In the three weeks since we arrived back in Poole, after our 3 month battle to get us and Intrepid Bear back to the U.K. from Gibraltar we’ve…

* Hauled Intrepid Bear out, done some boat jobs and dealt with yard life as liveaboards….

* Received and accepted an offer on Intrepid Bear and been busily dealing with and facilitating surveys and requests from the buyer…

* Bought a car and fitted it with a tow bar…

* Bought and towed home and learnt about our “new to us” caravan and how she’ll fit into our lives going forward…

* Packed up and moved all our possessions off of Intrepid Bear and either into storage or into the caravan…(turns out we have A LOT of stuff and it’s really heavy so we reckon Intrepid Bear would’ve got us home so much quicker if we hadn’t been so heavily laden 😂⛵️)…

* Been getting to know the locals in the gorgeous spot we’re staying at for a week in the caravan..🪿🐓

* Been checking out some potential next boats but remaining restrained as we’re not in a position to move forward with anything we fall in love with until the sale of Intrepid Bear completes… 🤫

Hopefully life will settle down a bit over the next few weeks and we’ll have something approaching a bit of a routine which will allow us to start making Season 4 and show you the journey here from Gibraltar…..so please bear with us 😁

Sorry, there’s no new Intrepid Bear episode tonight because we’re having a break between seasons.

Season 3 ended on YouTube two weeks ago with us enjoying Gibraltar over winter 2023/24 and, if you regularly follow us on Instagram and Facebook, you’ll already know some of what’s coming up in Season 4.

We hope to bring the first episode of Season 4 to you soon but we’re currently taking a break from the boat and are enjoying a family holiday in France before sailing north across the Bay of Biscay to continue our journey back to the U.K.

Sorry but it’s going to be a bit late. You’re probably aware that we’ve been smashing our way up the Atlantic Coast of Portugal recently and this has affected our ability to edit videos effectively.

Now that we’ve stopped for a while to wait to cross Biscay normal service will be resumed and hopefully there’ll be an episode out in the next few days.

Season 3 launches on Friday. Early ad free access is now available but…😬

Now this is hard to write!

Money, donations, or is it begging?…ugh! Very hard to talk about.

So we never thought that we’d join Patreon, Kofi or any of the crowd funding sites but several very kind people have encouraged us to do so as they enjoy our videos and they’d like to help.

Our natural British reserve/pride/shyness about accepting help has meant that we’ve been very hesitant to accept any help.

However….people have offered, video making is very expensive and YouTube doesn’t pay much!

Over the past 12 months alone we’ve spent around £1200 on a replacement drone, new 360 camera and new GoPro batteries. The computer needed for editing is high end for the processing power and won’t last forever and we’d also like to get a better camera with zoom to get close up to the action.

I’m sure your heart isn’t bleeding for us and neither should it be! We have enough to get by day to day with Iain’s pension but if/when the laptop, GoPro or drone dies then we’ll have quite a problem replacing them.

So after much agonising we have opened up channels to accept any kind offers of help in that regard. Patreon is a small monthly fee but you do get something in return ie early access to videos with no pesky ads! (Episode 48 is up now!)

Kofi is for small one off donations almost like a tip jar.

We expect nothing and our videos are free for everyone and always will be. Simply watching helps with ad revenue but, as some kind people have offered, who are we to look a gift horse in the mouth?

Absolutely every penny will go directly into the camera equipment fund.

Where’s the Bear??? ⛵️😮

We usually release a video every two weeks but it’s been a little while now since we released episodes regularly so, in case you’ve been wondering what’s going on, we’ll be releasing a short video on YouTube to explain at 8am tomorrow 3/7/23

We’re busy working on Season 3 and hope to release the first episode on Friday this week and from there we aim to return to fortnightly episodes 🙌🏼😊

We’ve already covered over 1,100nm this season visiting both Italy and France and we’ve only just begun so there’s going plenty of great sailing and adventuring coming your way.
