So pleased to announce that my submission for the @chromaawards won 3rd place. You can watch the film on @MrBreisMusic channel the song is called Perfect Night.. It was incredibly fun to make.
I'm on the front page of d La Repubblica today with my AI film work and my AI documentary The Last Birth is wild to even type.
d la Repubblica is the culture and fashion magazine of la Repubblica, one of Italy’s most influential progressive daily newspapers, known for its bold journalism and global cultural coverage since the 1970s. Being featured in their Culture/Arte section means my work and ideas are being shared with a wide Italian and international audience plugged into the future of art, fashion, and technology.
In the piece, they spotlight my AI documentary The Last Birth, a speculative story set in 2080 where artificial wombs replace human birth, asking what we lose when technology engineers life but removes touch, risk, and sacred intimacy. The film sits inside their “Visioni Artificiali” strand, where my work is described as afrofuturist, soulful and cinematic, exploring identity, memory, and what it really means to be human.
The article and interview were written by Gloria Maria Cappelletti, a visionary editor and creative director working at the intersection of fashion, art and new technologies.
She watched The Last Birth, felt something in it, and chose to tell my story, from my roots in web design and Black British culture to this moment of AI filmmaking.
As Afro Futcha, a UK-based AI filmmaker, artist and creative technologist, seeing my work and my journey framed on this kind of international platform is both humbling and energising. From late-night experiments with buttons, knobs and prompts to front-page coverage in Italy’s cultural press, it feels like another affirmation that, soulful, futurist stories belong in every global conversation about AI and art.

The last few weeks have been so intense that my heart is still catching up with everything that’s happening. I’m a little overwhelmed, a lot emotional, and incredibly grateful, so I wanted to share this with you properly.
1. I’m deeply honoured to have been named one of the Most Inspirational Women of Web3 & AI by Unstoppable Women of Web3 — a recognition that still doesn’t feel real when I read it back.
2.I hosted an AI Creators showcase in London with the Bionic Awards, and seeing WET and PERFECT NIGHT on the big screen again hit me harder than I expected; I almost cried on stage because it felt like my journey was flashing in front of me in real time.
3. Warm Coat was selected for an AI film festival in Italy by Video Hackers Film Fest, and knowing this little film is travelling further than I am right now fills me with quiet joy.
4. I received my first UK nomination with the Power of Women Awards, and that milestone means so much to me — if you’d like to support, you can vote for me here: afrofutcha.com/vote
5. Both WET and PERFECT NIGHT made it into the final top 11 for the @chromaawards, which honestly feels wild; these projects were born from so many late nights, doubts, and experiments, so seeing them recognised on this level is overwhelming in the best way.
It’s been hard to actually pause and breathe, to emotionally process all of this, because everything keeps happening at once.
There’s a newspaper article about me coming out in a few days, which is something younger me never could’ve imagined. I’ve also secured a job with an AI company starting next year that I’m genuinely excited about, and I’ll be delivering two workshops with Curious Refuge in January and February — chances to pour back into the community and share what I’ve been learning.
Looking ahead to 2026, I feel a mix of calm determination and wild excitement. I’ll be serving as a juror for three competitions — Bionic Awards, UnHuman, and the Chicago Film Festival — and I’m finally planning to come to the States, make more films, write more music, and keep encouraging others to just take the plunge, even when it feels scary.
One day soon, I’ll sit down and write a proper blog post about how this year has stretched, tested, and transformed me on so many levels. For now, just hold this snapshot of my heart.
Today I had the amazing opportunity to speak about AI and creativity in filmmaking on the BBC. I was joined by @johngaeta (The Matrix & ESCAPE AI MEDIA) and @simonrajala (actor and filmmaker), and together we explored what it really means to stay human in this new era of technology.
We talked about the importance of preserving human expression in our art, how, no matter how advanced AI becomes, it should never replace emotion, storytelling, or that raw creative spark that comes from lived experience. We also joked about how some of us still “touch grass,” keeping grounded while embracing this fast-moving wave of innovation.
It was a thoughtful and honest conversation about being both optimistic and realistic, acknowledging that while AI may change certain jobs, it’s also creating entirely new opportunities for artists, storytellers, and dreamers. Each of us shared how this technology has transformed our creative journeys in unexpected ways.

I'm honoured to be at TED AI this September in Vienna!
From Sept 25–28, I’ll be presenting:
The Future of Creativity: An Intimate AI Movie Screening and Dialogue with the AI Filmmaker Afro Futcha — a full 2-hour deep dive into my work in AI filmmaking, storytelling, culture, and identity.
As one of the few Black women shaping this space, this talk is about more than just tech. It's about using AI to tell human stories — with purpose, depth, and soul.
I should be posting up another episode of The Last which is my award nominated dystopian set of documentaries focused on our lives in 2080. In the next episode I am tackling death and what happens to our consciousness. To see the all the episodes you can view it on my YouTube channel playlist here.
