Hi, I’m Shannon Kerr! Eight.Fold.Path is a multimedia project focusing on mental health awareness, to a progressive metal soundtrack, built on a DIY ethos - I make and publish original music aimed at a progressive metal audience, and original videos about mental health, mood disorders, and how they intersect with DIY culture.
Being DIY, everything is self-funded. I don’t mind, it’s my passion! But if you subscribe and like, that’d be awesome 😻
Thanks, and enjoy!

The Current Anxiety
With all the current uncertainty, those of us with mood disorders are especially vulnerable. With so much up in the air, it’s hard to feel any kind of stability all, particularly when so many of us are already in positions more precarious than the ‘norm’, just by virtue of dealing with our condition.
It’s completely reasonable to be feeling unreasonable right now. This is a time where routine and reliable expectations are all thrown askew. Where some of us don’t know what our day to day life will look like next week. Whether we’ll be able to do any of the things we normally do. Whether we’ll even have an income.
Breathe. Breathe slowly, and moderately. This will pass. You will be okay. We have some challenges facing us this year... we also have the opportunity to shake things up. Make things different. Shift direction. It can be terrifying... and exhilarating.
My advice, for the foreseeable future: pay attention, and keep thinking. It’s hard; we want to look away, because we get understandably scared. Our brains want to run to every catastrophic ‘what if.’ Pay attention to what’s actually happening; keep thinking about how to manage the things that are actually happening. Do that, then take a break. Rest. Eat. Work. Clean. Do concrete physical things.
To those of us already dealing with sickness, forget everything I said! Rest and recover. Take care of yourself. The rest of us will be fine, and we’re here to help. We will all come through this time - and those of us living with mood disorders will come through faster and better than the rest. We know how to do this. We do it every day. Keep doing it; we’ll get there together.

Eight. Fold. Path
The theme for me in 2020 so far has been doing things I’m passionate about, and things that scare me, so to that end, I’m starting a new video series:
DIY & DEPRESSION
I’m going to talk about the things I find so exciting about being a DIY musician; the challenges I face as a person with anxiety and depression; and how those things intersect, both positively and negatively. My hope, as this goes along, is to engage in conversations with others dealing with these same issues, and uncover new ways for all of us to be creative and successful!
If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, please check out my intro video at https://youtu.be/LBc3uovFbM4 ; let me know what you think, if you g as be any suggestions, and Subscribe if you’d like to see more!
