Shire Meadow Studio

Welcome to Shire Meadow Studio 🌿✨
I'm Shirley — maker of miniatures, wrangler of Mod Podge, and lover of all things tiny and magical.

Here in my little corner of the internet, I bring you DIY dioramas, scenic set builds, and creative craft projects inspired by fairy tales, film scenes, and a sprinkle of cottagecore chaos.

Whether I’m laser-cutting a tiny teapot or turning old junk into a fantasy backdrop, you’ll find plenty of inspiration, how-tos, and behind-the-scenes mischief.

The name Shire Meadow comes from the Old English roots of my own name — "Shire" (bright) and "Ley" (meadow) — and this channel is my own bright little meadow of creativity.

So if you love handmade magic, a bit of whimsy, and a good rummage through the craft stash, you’re in the right place.
Pull up a toadstool and stay awhile! 🧵🍄✨

🍺 New Video!
Every Hobbit village needs somewhere to gather...
This week I'm building The Green Dragon Inn, complete with handmade thatch, glowing windows and all the tiny details that make it feel like the heart of the village.
I think this might be my favourite build of the entire series... ❤️
Next week we finish everything with Bag End! 🌳
I hope you'll come and join me.

🏡 The First Hobbit Homes Have Arrived!
Episode 2 of Building The Shire is now live!
This week, the empty garden wall finally begins to transform as the very first Hobbit homes take shape. From expanding foam and craft foam to tiny lanterns, gardens and glowing windows, this was the moment everything started to feel like a real little village.
And next week...
We build The Green Dragon Inn! 🍺
I hope you'll come and join me for the journey.

✨ NEW VIDEO! ✨
I've always loved Thranduil's incredible woodland crown, so I finally challenged myself to make one!
Using craft foam, foam clay, wire, my laser cutter and plenty of patience, I transformed a pile of simple materials into this woodland-inspired Elven crown.
The final woodland photo shoot was filmed on the hottest day of the year (wearing an Elven cloak and wig wasn't my smartest idea! 😅), but I'm so pleased with how it turned out.
I hope you enjoy watching the build as much as I enjoyed creating it.

🍃 NEW VIDEO! 🍃
What happens when you combine a laser cutter, a few second-hand fleeces and a love of fantasy clothing?
You get Elven coats!
In this video I experiment with laser etching intricate fantasy designs directly into fleece fabric and transform ordinary hoodies and coats into something a little more magical.
This may be one of my favourite clothing projects so far. ✨
Who knew cosy fleeces could look so Elven?

Over winter I developed a small problem…
It began with granny squares…then waistcoats…then suddenly I was making Bilbo Baggins inspired buttons 😅🌿
Join me as I sculpt, mould and experiment my way through creating Hobbit-style brass buttons—with a few tree buttons sneaking in too 👀
There may also be a magic cupboard involved…

✨ From Wool to Wonderland ✨
I’ve been working on something a little different…
taking my needle felted rabbits and trying to turn them into a cinematic scene 🎬🐇
This video is all about how I photograph miniatures using a simple setup (and a bit of imagination!)
It’s amazing what a little light can do…
I’d love to know what you think 💛

Perfect if you want something a little simpler:
A little Bridgerton-inspired bedroom magic 🌷✨
Willow asked if I could make her a tulip lamp for her newly decorated room… and this is how it turned out 💚
Made with craft foam, tissue paper, UV resin, foam clay and paint, this one was such a lovely project to build.
I think I may officially be entering my flower lamp era 😄

Spring may be here… but cosy season clearly isn’t over in my world 🌿✨
I’ve given a plain pair of slippers a little Middle-earth makeover, inspired by the Fellowship’s journey to Rivendell 💚
Soft greens, misty waterfalls, and tiny travelling figures… I think these might be my new favourite thing to wear with a morning cuppa ☕

Sometimes a craft project chooses you.
While watching A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, I spotted Ser Duncan the Tall’s beautiful elm tree shield and immediately thought…
“I must make that.”
So with cardboard, foam, acrylic paint, and a slightly suspicious-looking rock from the garden, I recreated the Hedge Knight’s shield for my studio wall.
Turns out hoarding craft leftovers does occasionally pay off! 🌳⭐
New video now on the channel.
What would your shield sigil be?
