People in Meghalaya love their chilli and pepper. The chilli and garlic chutney is a staple here, which is also served with the local delicacy Jadoh, along with almost everything. We were delighted to find the famous #BhootJholakia being sold on carts in the iconic #PoliceBazaar along with a variety of other chillies and pepper. We tried the Timur pepper here, which we were told is like black pepper. All we can say is, just don't! You will see the locals popping timur like its no big deal, but for someonbe who isnt used to the strong taste - it is a HUGE deal!

Sometimes the simplest of foods, made just right, touch your soul. Little did we know that we would eat one of the best dosas of our lives up in the #northeast at a place called #orangeroots.

We stopped at Orange Roots in #Cherapunjee after a tiring trek down the Nongriat jungle. We were on our way to #shillong and extremely hungry. We found this place and were momentarily upset that it is a pure vegetarian restaurant. But we were tired and hungry, and had a long way to go. So we settled in and ordered for masala dosas (always a safe bet, right) and boy, oh boy! The masala dosa was mind blowing. It was crispy, had the perfect filling, and the chutneys were just right!
And also to note, this place is super-duper clean. We actually saw the staff here washing the walls, floor and toilets with detergent! This place was definitely a lucky find.

Say hello to #Tarzan and #Mowgli

We lived our #feral dream in the jungles of Nongriat. We went on the exciting trek leading to the living root bridges where we saw the single and double decker living root bridges.
Root bridges in Meghalaya are handmade from the aerial roots of rubber fig trees by the indigenous Khasi and Jaintia tribes.
The trek is tiring, but the experience is exhilarating!!!
