Indika is a music and visual storytelling project built around original songs and cinematic films.

Each piece is written and produced as part of a wider body of work exploring identity, emotion, and experience through music and imagery.

I am working on the 4-hour jazz instrumental the subscribers have requested. The problem is, my HoloJazz tracks make me really sleepy! I don't know how people make sleep videos full-time. Surely they are constantly falling asleep? I know I am!

On the upside, hopefully it is going to result in a very effective relaxation video for the viewers!

🎨 Behind the scenes...

Today I finally finished redesigning the banner for the Indika channel.

It took about half a day of experimenting with different layouts, colours and compositions to get it right. I wanted it to represent the many different worlds that Indika now inhabits.

πŸ–€ The noir storyteller (Knowing)
πŸš€ The explorer (Citizen of the World)
πŸ’™ The modern Indika
🎸 The rock guitarist
🎷 The HoloJazz performer

The surprisingly tricky part was that a YouTube banner has to work in three completely different layouts. A TV shows the whole image, a desktop only shows a strip through the middle, and a phone only shows the centre section. Getting one composition to work across all three took far longer than I expected!

I'm really pleased with the final result. I think it finally captures what Indika has grown into over the last yearβ€”not just a virtual artist, but a music and visual storytelling project spanning many genres and cinematic worlds.

Which version of Indika is your favourite? πŸ’™

I ran a poll to ask how long you want me to make the next long-form jazz video. So far the overwhelming decision of the supporters is 4 hours! I didn't expect that, but we can certainly do it. Would you like instrumental only or singing too?

There are songs that tell a story.

And then there are songs that slowly reveal one.

When I first wrote **Knowing**, I thought it was about love, loss and grief.

But while creating this black and white film, I discovered it was also about something else...

What happens when the one person who truly knew you is gone?

The world may still see you.

It may applaud you.

It may think it knows you.

But that's very different from being truly known.

This is one of the most cinematic videos I've ever made, and I hope you'll lose yourself in it for a few minutes.

🎬 **Knowing** is out now.

I'd love to know what you think the story is about after you've watched it. ❀️

🎷 NEW RELEASE

Welcome to The Haven.

I've spent the last week creating a cyberpunk jazz club where Indika performs with her Holographic Jazz Band.

It ended up becoming something completely unexpected... so unexpected that I invented a new name for the style:

✨ HoloJazz ✨

If you're working, studying, reading, relaxing, or just need somewhere peaceful to disappear for an hour, I hope you'll enjoy spending some time there.

Question...

If The Haven really existed... would you visit?

You asked for it... and I made it.

One hour of smooth late-night jazz arrives tomorrow. Perfect for relaxing, working, studying... or drifting off to sleep.

But try to stay awake long enough to catch Indika playing a few instruments with her holographic jazz band. πŸ˜‰πŸŽ·

One day we'll see performances like this for real. And probably sooner than any of us imagine.

I thought you might be interested in the process I use for making my music videos. Today we are working on a song from my Beauty From Ashes album. It's called "Knowing" and is about one of the aspects of grief - the feeling of loss associated with the only person who really ever knew you leaving this life. It is hard to appreciate the value of being known until the person who actually knew you is no longer here.

So first I am working on a "look" for this video. I am inspired here by old style Hollywood glamour but also the Whitney Houston look and character from The Bodyguard. I am not sure which way it will end up going yet. I am inclined to keep it in black and white though. It will make an interesting contrast to previous video concepts.

I like exploring different images and concepts. I note that Madonna has constantly reinvented herself. I think that keeps people interested and enables an artist to keep being relevant across longer time periods. The problem is, time is moving so much faster than it used to now, so our artists have to keep reinventing themselves more frequently! Or so it seems to me. What do you think?

APOCALYPTIC CYBER JAZZ

A condition characterised by an uncontrollable urge to swing dance during civilisation-ending events.

⚠️ Exposure to Apocalyptic Cyber Jazz may result in:

πŸ’ƒ Uncontrollable swing dancing

✨ Spontaneous optimism

πŸ›οΈ Increased appreciation of Art Deco architecture

πŸ‘— Wearing evening attire during meteor showers

🎺 Refusal to evacuate while the brass section is still playing

πŸ•Ί An overwhelming desire to take one more turn around the ballroom floor

β˜„οΈπŸŒπŸŽ·

If symptoms persist...

Continue dancing.

The reviews are in...

"This is cool. This makes me want to swing dance." 🀩

"Love the music... don't like the words."

The first review came from a dancer.

The second came from my mother, who I don't think approves of the Apocalypse ;)

I feel that Apocalyptic Cyber Jazz is progressing exactly as it should. πŸŽ·β˜„οΈπŸ˜„
