The UFC needed this win. They needed a fighter like Joe Pyfer - big, exciting, marketable, and most importantly, AMERICAN. After a fight like that, where he came out and kept marching forward at Adesanya no matter what, and even after facing some real adversity in the fight, he still found his shots, hurt Izzy, took the fight to the ground, and finished the former champion with brutal ground-and-pound.

Pyfer was also very respectful toward Adesanya throughout the entire fight week and even after the fight, calling him the greatest middleweight of all time. Although, anyone who’s followed Joe’s career knows he can be a little salty, as Americans like to say. We’ll see what’s next for this young gentleman, while Izzy has already announced that he is NOT retiring.
