It's the journey that matters most, and the mystery is just part of the fun.

I just started as a miscellaneous product reviewer, and I thought, "Why stop at that?" Sure, reviewing whatever's available can be fun, but the race gets tough when the most useful merchandise come along. It's difficult to review a refill or spare part for an item I don't own, know what I mean? So, I figured I should work towards specialized merchandise, games, apps, tourism, food, real estate, and theories about some of my favorite shows.

Life's full of niches, so why be limited to just one?

I'm sure a lot of people are still lost on the line, "Got a Benjamin and a Jackson all in my house like I'm Joe, okay." Well, I got the answer for you. And, yes, it's a bar.

This is a multi.

Drake once made a reference that likened himself to Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson, as a kid, performed a song in the end credits of a movie, and that song was named Ben. Check that out here: https://youtu.be/i7TTSzfs2kw?si=7FDzI...

That movie was named after the 1972 film that it was featured in. The movie was about a rat named Ben. It was a horror movie about, well, rats. If you haven't seen Ben or Willard, you likely missed this reference. Considering the timeline of these two works, this line reveals how immersed in Hollywood history and pop culture Kdot is. These were published long before he was even born, and few people alive today recall or ever knew about them.

In conclusion, Kdot cleverly called Drake a rat using this reference. He also acknowledged Drake as more of a pop star than a rapper at the same time. You can figure out the part about Joe from there.

That's it for now!

Are you a writer? It doesn't matter what market you serve. You can be a poet, songwriter, novelist, journalist, technical writer, etc. If you're a writer and you prefer or need to write on your phone, you'll need a good way to do that - especially if you need to use the app and store the files locally. That can be a difficult challenge to face nowadays, with seemingly everyone wanting to do everything online - *including the developers.* Furthermore, they offer attractive options such as free downloads, free cloud storage, and _affordable_ *subscription* options for _advanced_ [read: common] features.

Okay, here's the problem: you shouldn't need to pay a subscription for features that aren't being manually applied on a regular basis. This is a clever way to make you pay for continued support of the application. Though the developers retains the right to apply whatever pricing model they want, it doesn't make it ethical. See, beyond the legally required maintenance of the product, they aren't doing anything in the background. They update to fix and optimize their apps because *they HAVE to,* not because they're doing you a favor worthy of bonus pay. When they add _new_ features, they're doing that because *they HAVE to* in order to compete. That's called a market hazard, and they want you to pay an inherent cost to their businesses that you actually aren't liable for.

For a long time now, decades even, western business have been transitioning from conducting *good* business to shady practices and the grind for *free money.* They regularly downsize, if they ever hire at all, and fire moonshots that they fully expect to be paid tributes for. So, you may have *also* noticed them selling apps originally, promising you lifetime licensing to use the product you paid for, issuing mandatory updates, then showing you subscriptions to maintain the features *you already had when you first BOUGHT the app.* Worse, they'll even play Keep Away with your data after they incorporate the changes! Well, ain't *that* some sh--

Anyway, I'm here to put you on notice about JotterPad and offer you a worthy alternative. JotterPad is now guilty of all these things. They reduced the availability of settings that were once present, require an account login, present an overpriced subscription model to easily transfer your files between devices, offer free cloud storage you don't need, unnecessarily reformatted the application and presented it as work deserving of the extra pay, removed features that were once present in the original paid version, blocked your ability to set *your own* file storage location on your device, provided a support channel that isn't always monitored in real time, and created a new default location where they buried your files so that you can't freely access them. Whoops! I guess all of that was an accident 🙄 Nope! It was by design.

If you want to upgrade your device and you can't pay for the subscription, GOOD LUCK! If you need to replace your device, let's say the USB port went out on you, GOOD LUCK! If you have remote access to your device but you lost it and need to pull data before you wipe it, GOOD LUCK! If you already paid for the app when it was released and simply don't want to pay a subscription on top of that because it's not fair, GOOD LUCK! You won't find your files on your own for the version in question, and if you move data over and freshly install the app, you *can't* direct it to any other folder to see those files anymore. They literally removed your ability to do that. That's a willful act done in code, so it's not an accident. They *KNEW* you would face that outcome.

Every word of that is true, not slander or libel, and I'll prove it to anyone who would challenge me on it. *DON'T USE JOTTERPAD!* The worst that could happen is they'll hit me with a SLAPP [strategic lawsuit against public participation], but I live in an anti-SLAPP state and I'm broke anyway, so I really don't care.

What can you use instead of that garbage? Writer Journal, made by Pocket App.

This is the *premium* mobile writer app experience you've been looking for. It's got a bit of everything, as promised, straight out the gate. Instead of running down the extensive list, just look at my screenshots. I tested with the darkest theme, but you have two other free options, and a multitude of paid options. By the way, you aren't committing to a bunch of microtransactions to get the paid options, no. You're paying *ONE-TIME* to *unlock them all immediately.* There's no subscription model. Period. Instead, you can continue to support the developer by donating straight from the app. *WHOA* 🤯 This can just about compete with Word for PC! I'm not kidding either! That's not an exaggeration. Font faces, font size, clear formatting, copy & paste, directory selection, file migration, automatic backups, cloud syncing, Markdown support - the list goes on.

There are *only TWO* things this developer forgot for a mobile word processor, and only one of these things made it as a recommendation in my review: selectable font color / highlight color and grid view. Guess what though! *I DON'T CARE ABOUT FONT COLOR! I RECOMMENDED THEY ADD GRID VIEW AS AN OPTION!* If you need that, ask for it. I'm willing to bet you'll eventually get it. There's not much else to add. Maybe tables, grids, and columns - but this a word processor *for a phone.* You don't need all of that on the go unless you draft in landscape mode 😒 Obvious exception for those working on a tablet or Chromebook though!

Can't find it? Go here: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lightwei…

Still don't trust links? Google search: _writer journal by pocket app google play_ and it'll be the first result. You can't miss it.

Go look at the pics. It's time for a change. We *all* deserve better, and Writer Journal really is better. Flat out.

Are you a Python programmer with interest in getting into game development, but you have no idea where to start or how your expertise can help you gain some experience? Are you panicking at the thought of having to learn yet another language just to get a start? Nah. I'm not letting you go out like that. I'm going to tell you what to do.

1. Grab your phone and let your imagination take control.
2. Think of a good idea for an interesting story and record that.
3. Start a new recording and flesh out the major plot points of that story. The more adult it is, the better.
4. Install or open Chrome and go here: www.renpy.org/doc/html/index.html

Copy and paste that. If you don't trust links, Google: Ren'Py documentation. The official documentation should be the first result.

5. Make that a progressive web app (PWA) by clicking the menu, click "Save and share," and click "Create shortcut."
6. Name it in a way that works for you, check the box for "Open as new window," and unpin it from the taskbar unless you just want it there.

If you have the Windows bug that affects Chrome, and you can't open Chrome shortcuts after you close those windows, you'll have to take ownership in place of the default system Admin under Properties > Security. There are more steps, but that's for a separate post. Anyway, you're going to be referring to that resource a bit, so make it readily accessible to yourself. No account is required.

While listening to your notes and getting hyped up, you're going to follow a few more steps.

7. Read this page, then download the green install kit: www.renpy.org/latest.html

Don't worry! I got you if you still don't trust links! You can Google "install Ren'Py," and it should be the first result. That's the official. Don't go anywhere else for it. If auto-detect doesn't highlight which kit you need, either get the .exe one, OR what you believe is most appropriate for your machine and comfort levels.

8. Install that and launch the application.
9. Learn about the genre and structure by watching this video: https://youtu.be/7dfGgJRAEZY?si=LJ3kR...

It's not the shortest video, but it's not going to cost you an hour of your life. It's just important foundational things you need to know before you start rolling our your story. If you start without knowing that, you're only going to give yourself a big headache and a boring game.

10. Watch this video to get an understanding of how to actually script the story of your game: https://youtu.be/C3Ldd-5PKCw?si=exs5y...
11. Then watch this to learn how to simplify and accelerate the writing process: https://youtu.be/vith10gG8L4?si=fZH20...

In two hours, you've already started making your own visual novel game! Oh! But what will you do for art?!!!!! No sweat. You can install DAZ Studio for free. You can search that or just go here: www.daz3d.com/install-manager-info

Join the forums to pick up some tips and tricks, dig around YouTube for visual assisted tutorials, and EXPLORE THE STORE for assets that will help you customize your characters. And for scenes? Well, if you don't have any ideas for the environments you need, you can just buy them from the store as well. Follow the content as you go, and you'll be putting your Python skills to work before bed. How? Ren'Py is based on Python.

Have fun making your first [visual novel] game!

Now, keep in mind that most of them little to no budget. But that's not what you're in it for. You're in it to showcase your talent, get the background, and chase the much bigger opportunities.
