Tension 3 Cast on every other needle over 32 needles with shoe color yarn. Hang comb, pull out alternate needles and knit next row.
RC000 Shoes: Knit 4 rows Cut yarn and change to pants color
Pants: Knit 14 rows Cut yarn and change to shirt color
Shirt: Knit 12 rows Cut yarn and change to face color
Face: Knit 8 rows Cut yarn and change to hair color
Hair: Knit 4 rows Row count 42: Skipping the 1st needle at Right, then skip 4 more and transfer next one to its neighbor to the left. Skip 4 more and transfer the next one to its neighbor to the left, etc. across the bed. Move stitches together so you have empty needles only at the ends. Push these empty needles out of work. Knit 2 rows
RC 44 Do the same thing you did with row 42 but this time, leave 3 needles between transfers. Knit 2 rows
RC46 Same thing but 2 needles between transfers Knit 2 rows
RC 48 Same thing but 1 needle between transfers Knit ONE row
RC 49 Same thing but 0 needles between transfers Knit one row
RC 50 Cut yarn leaving a long tail and thread through the seven stitches you have left in work.
Mattress stitch from the top of the head down.
Stuff with polyfill, gather the bottom. Gather stitches on bottom row of face color and pull tight.
Sew seam for legs, seams for arms. Add eyes, mouth, hair or whatever else you would like!
Light worsted weight yarn. I used Dollar Tree Just Yarn in Cream, Forest Green and Red.
Cast on from 27 Left to 27 Right with waste yarn. Knit 8 - 10 rows waste yarn and then switch to cream colored (white) yarn. Leave a long tail to sew up with.
Tension 7 Carriage on right. Knit 24 rows in white. Transfer every other stitch to make picot row. Knit 24 more rows white, then hang hem.
Reset row counter to 000.
*Change to red yarn and knit 6 rows. Change to white and knit 2 rows. Change to green and knit 6 rows. Change to white and knit 2 rows. **
Cut the yarn each time and weave in ends as you go.
Repeat from * to ** three more times. You will have four repeats of the pattern so far. You should be on RC 64.
Change to red yarn and knit 3 rows. Carriage will be on Left. Unthread red yarn and park it on the left. Pick up the carriage and move it to the right side. Thread white yarn.
HEEL: Set carriage to hold. (Brother KX350 NH NH. LK 150 ▲ I, ▲ I) Put all needles to the left of zero out to holding position. You will be working the heel on the 27 needles on the right.
*Knit one row right to left, pull last needle that was just knit to holding position. Knit one row left to right, pull last needle that was just knit to holding position.
Repeat from * until you have only 9 needles in working position. Your carriage will be on the right. Push closest needle on left to working position and knit one row. Repeat until all needles to the right of zero are back in work. Your heel is finished.
Pick up carriage and move it back to the left and rethread the red yarn. Knit 3 rows. Continue in stripe sequence until the foot portion of the stocking has two green stripes and two red, ending with red.
Work the toe in white the same as you did the heel.
Scrap off the white stitches of the toe with waste yarn. Scrap off the red stitches of the foot with waste yarn. To finish, graft the white stitches of the toe to the red stitches. Mattress stitch up the side.
I-cord Loop Tension 2 Carriage (Brother KX 350 NN, PN) (LK 150 ▲ II, ⬤ II) E-wrap one stitch. Pull out needle to right of this stitch and knit one row. Pull out needle on left and knit a row. Knit 42 rows. Transfer right stitch to cast off. Knit one row. Transfer left stitch, knit one row. Pull tail of yarn through last stitch. Leave long tails so you can sew this onto the stocking.
