Hi, I'm Carol and I'm a storyteller with a miniature twist. I'm also a video producer and a writer and happen to combine all of these things into my miniatures + crime series on BuzzFeed Unsolved Network, and also, independently. Welcome to my personal page where you will find behind-the-scenes content from some of my builds along with content relating to my self-published book. Enjoy!

That one project (of many) that I’ve been meaning to finish. Nearing its completion and I can’t wait to finally wrap it up so I can move on to my next build.

It’s a personal project that’ll be the 2nd of its kind in my collection. I’m most excited to bring all the elements together, lighting it and shooting a side-by-side comparison.

More to come!

Throwback: LEGO fruit props that I designed and made from scratch for a BuzzFeed Tasty project back in 2022.

My biggest regret from this shoot was not keeping any of these lovely LEGO fruits for my own personal collection.

That being said, I do have some spare pieces and will (at some point) make myself a set just so I can have them for myself! 🤗 I’m also surely glad I documented the process because I honestly can’t remember how I made some of them, lol! I’ll definitely be referencing my vlogs to figure it out. 😂

I was a co-director and prop designer, directing all the stop-motion animation shots that were included in the video, and as mentioned above, designed the LEGO fruit props from scratch. All the pieces were sourced and assembled by yours truly.

More fun bits from past projects to share again soon!

In the meantime, enjoy and happy ckrafting!

Throwback! This retro-inspired miniature is easily one of my favorite builds from the collection.

The mirror was a freestyle piece to tie the room together and like most of builds, it turned out better than I expected, lol!

Looking to start making more videos showing some of my past builds and all the tiny things in them that are easily missed in my videos. The little hidden gemz, I tell ya… :)

Realizing how much I miss taking pictures…picking up my camera, slapping on a vintage lens from the collection and leaning into my mini muse to reconnect with an art form I lost touch with was exactly what I’ve been needing these past few months—to do the thing just to do the thing, ya know?

It’s truly an honor to be showcasing my work alongside the amazingly talented @nix_gerber_studio & @amybennettstudio in the “Transformations: New Perspectives on Miniatures” exhibition at the National Museum of Toys and Miniatures in Kansas City, Missouri.

I had a remarkable time, met some awesome people and made very special memories at the opening night. Seeing my pieces in a museum setting certainly hits differently. 🥹

If you’re in the Kansas City area and would like to see them in person be sure to stop by @toyandminiaturemuseum to check them out.

Pro Tip: Plan to spend some time there because there’s SO many neat miniatures to see and a lot to marvel at. Like, A LOT.

I have to do another pass when I visit again because I’m sure I missed a bunch of little things (no pun intended, haha).

Anyway, here’s a photo dump of the pieces showcasing until May of 2024.

Thank you to the museum for taking an interest in my work and allowing me to share a space with such great talent. I am filled with gratitude. 🙏🏽

Enjoy!

P.S.
I have a short 'work-in-progress' video for the H.H. Holmes piece and a video for The Wonderland House currently on my channel as part of my new series, "Miniatures & Mysteries". WARNING: Given the nature of the subject matter that they cover (true crime), they may not be suitable for all audiences -- viewer discretion is advised.

Fun Fact: this piece in its entirety weighs approximately 5.6 pounds

I know right?! Doesn’t sound like much, but when you’re holding it for more than just a few seconds, not to mention the pressure of not dropping or dinging it against something while moving it from one spot to another, you’ll definitely start to feel its weight, haha! All of that combined certainly makes it feel a whole lot heavier, lol! 😂

The interest in my miniature work is beyond me—and I’m so grateful for all the love and support.

There are a few plans for this piece and I’m looking forward to seeing how they unfold.

Keep ya posted!

And if you’re wondering, this is a recreation of The Wonderland House — a house in the Hollywood Hills where a real-life crime took place in the summer of 1981.

I’m working on a video for this piece that I’m aiming to publish sometime this October.

Project Update: Blast from the past…the brown fridge.

Just a little project update for a house I’m currently recreating in miniature to document a case that took place there in the summer 1981.

I’m close to complete and will be shooting a video for this very soon which I’m still debating if I’ll be publishing it on this channel or a new one that will be just for finished case videos and leaving this channel for more of the behind-the-scenes/build videos (because I know the stories I tell and the things I document is not for everyone).

If you aren’t familiar with my work, I used to produce videos for a major media company that covered mysteries and real-life crime cases and at some point in my journey there, I started using my miniature-making skills as a storytelling tool.

You can find examples of my work that included my miniatures in this playlist: Miniatures & True Crime: Building A Case
www.youtube.com/playlist?list...

And, as with all my builds, I’ve been filming this entire process and am hoping to have some time to put together a full build video or a timelapse of the project as well.

In the meantime, here’s a glimpse at the kitchen area and a brown fridge.
