🎥 Mini movies about business & money.

💸 Business is fascinating. The way empires are built and destroyed... fortunes are made and lost... and companies battle to change the world. A 'magnate' just means a very wealthy and influential businessperson - and we'll be covering the stories of many different magnates here on this channel.

🤵 My name is John, and my goal is to make unique high-quality videos on fascinating stories. Think of it like Netflix for entrepreneurs - although hopefully anyone can enjoy these videos, as we'll be diving into a wide range of interesting topics.

I just wrote one of my favourite scripts… It’ll take months to actually make the video though 😂 The good news is I have another video that’s 99% done already which I think you’re REALLY gonna like (it’s requested a lot). Hopefully should be live next week! 😁

I was asked which was my favourite video to research, and I think it may be this one. It's a true rags to riches story, of someone building an empire from bananas, but literally starting wars & going up against governments. It's not a well known topic at all so it's not one of my most viewed videos, but I've seen quite a few people mentioning this as one of their favourites. If you missed it, here's part 1:

A huge thank you for 1,800,000 subscribers! To celebrate, here's my 5 best tips for anyone looking to grow their own YouTube channel. (I’ll also share some useful resources below). ⬇️

1. If you want more views, spend more time on "the big 4": Topic, Title, Thumbnail, & Intro. These 4 things have such a major effect on a video's success that you should spend a disproportionate amount of time on them. The first of these is particularly overlooked - as obvious as it sounds, if your topic/idea doesn’t appeal to millions of people, you’re not going to get a million views. Sometimes you may need to package the idea differently to appeal to a broader audience, as a great video still won’t go viral if it’s way too niche and narrowly focused.

2. I see many people trying to find 'the best niche' for YouTube - but I strongly think the best option is to pick a niche you actually like & already know about. Whatever you spend time researching for free right now, or whatever you enjoy talking about, you could create videos about that. It'll give you a competitive advantage as you'll understand it more already. You'll be more motivated & the content you make will be better. So you'll make more money long-term. I make business videos because I genuinely find them really interesting, and I was reading about these topics before I even had a channel.

3. I'm a fan of evergreen content, which is videos that are timeless. There's nothing specifically dating the video to this current time period, and it's a topic people will still care about in the future. This is the direct opposite of trying to catch trends, fads and current news. With the evergreen strategy, your work compounds over time. You end up building a whole library of quality videos people can go back and watch any time, and YouTube will keep recommending them for YEARS after posting. So: consider what topics your audience will still find relevant even years from now. That way you'll still be earning money from videos you made months/years ago. And each new video introduces people to your past catalogue they can binge-watch.

4. Don't rely solely on AdSense. If you're getting decent view counts, you can reach out to sponsors to get brand deals (which typically earn far more money than ad revenue). Some of my brand deals came from me reaching out directly to sponsors that I felt were a good fit - you don't have to wait for them to come to you. You can also consider your own product/service if it's something that your audience actually want. For example in my case people kept asking me questions about making their own channel (how we make/edit the videos, storytelling, the business model etc) so my program was a natural fit. AdSense is great but you'll sleep much better knowing you have multiple different revenue streams. This also allows you to reinvest into your content, like hiring team members, so you can scale faster.

5. Realize the algorithm simply wants to surface videos that keeps viewers on YouTube longer. So if you make better content the audience wants to watch more, yours videos will get pushed more. Just think of the algorithm as following the audience. If you’re asking ‘Why doesn’t the algorithm like my videos?’ - instead ask 'Why doesn’t the audience like my videos?'. Instead of ‘How often does the algorithm want me to post?’ - ask ‘How often does the audience want me to post?’ Stop looking for growth "hacks" or great SEO... focus on the skills that actually make better content - like understanding storytelling & sound design.

Remember: It only takes one viral video to change everything for you. So if it feels tough right now, remember you're only one video away. Keep going, keep improving. You got this. 🫡
