Larry has been out at Newstead and Ashland EVERY DAY since the tornado hit St. Louis. He was at this corner when the tornado hit and was lucky to escape with his life. He was here when he realized the devastation all around him and decided to cook food for his neighbors. He was here when volunteers came from all over - even a man from Florida who, after returning home, felt compelled to come back and volunteer again - to help him stock his food operation.
Today, I brought him ice and some company. In the next few days, we're hoping to bring him a truckload of supplies. We'll have more details for you soon.
We talked for a long time about what St. Louis is going to look like in the next few years, whether people in this neighborhood will even be able to stay, how years of disinvestment was the powder that the tornado happened to light. There's a lot to come to terms with if we actually want a home that works for all of us, but, no matter if we spend yet another decade ignoring these serious problems (I sure hope we don't), I'll tell you one thing is for sure: Larry is going to be out there again tomorrow.

It's Missouri Furry Friend Friday, and we've got quite a few friends to celebrate! Tyger, Moose, Lanie, Mulligan, Clyde, Alfie, Olive, Iris, Norman AND Turtle are all rescues. They're supporting Liberty Belle's bid for Deputy Attorney General; they're fed up with Missouri being number 1 for abusive puppy mills!
Submit your furry friend(s) to www.EladGross.org/pets for a chance to be in our competition for Missouri's furriest friend.

For more than three decades, Christopher Dunn was locked away in prison for a crime he didn't commit. A few years ago, a judge ruled that he should be freed, but Missouri law at the time only allowed courts to free innocent people trapped on death row. So Mr. Dunn spent more time in prison.
Missouri's law changed to allow prosecutors to sue to free those wrongfully convicted, and that's what happened for Mr. Dunn.
Attorney General Andrew Bailey fought the prosecutor every step of the way. The judge overturned Mr. Dunn's conviction and ordered his release. Bailey appealed - despite the law not giving him the authority to appeal - and told prison officials to ignore the judge's order. The judge threatened to hold officials in contempt. Bailey then took an emergency appeal, lost, and took a second emergency appeal to the Missouri Supreme Court, keeping Mr. Dunn imprisoned.
Today, Missouri's Supreme Court stopped Andrew Bailey from keeping Mr. Dunn in prison. I had the distinct honor of explaining the ruling to Mr. Dunn's wife right after it was handed down.
Tonight, Mr. Dunn is a free man. Unlike other states, Missouri provides no guaranteed compensation to those exonerated without DNA evidence, and even those who can receive compensation don't get much.
Mr. Dunn has a GoFundMe. It's at www.gofundme.com/f/help-chris-dunn-after-three-dec…
Mr. Dunn's entire case is a story of injustice. In particular, Andrew Bailey's unrelenting crusade to torment innocent people will forever be a terrible stain on Missouri's justice system.
When asked what he had to say to Andrew Bailey after being released, Christopher Dunn said, "Have a nice life."
I wish our Attorney General had anywhere close to the heart Mr. Dunn has.

Yesterday, I traveled to Warsaw to attend an event hosted by "Trump HQ," which I later learned was actually a shop in town. I was the only candidate running as a Democrat there, but I wasn't the only Democrat. A few showed up to support our campaign.
A few weeks ago, the organizers called and invited Liberty Belle and me to visit. Honestly, I was a little shocked, but I quickly said yes.
It didn't take long for Liberty Belle to bring a crowd to our table. We talked about the state of our country. We talked about the violence in our society. We talked about my plans for the Attorney General's Office, how I will enforce the Do Not Call List and make sure that every Missourian can see where their tax dollars are going. We talked about shutting down abusive puppy mills, and one family that was there helps investigate those terrible operations. We talked about the need to restart the Office's Conservation Division to protect our drinking water. We even talked about enforcing the Sunshine Law.
We had great conversations. We didn't always agree, but we agreed on a lot.
My favorite exchange of the night was a man in the crowd around us who, after listening, said, "Just please tell me you're not a RINO."
"I'm happy to say that would be impossible, sir, because I'm a Democrat."
One lady asked me if I would please switch to being a Republican. I told her that she should switch instead! Neither of us was winning on that one.
I am the only Democrat running for Attorney General, but none of the Republicans showed up. I told the folks there that regardless of party, I will always have their backs, and I will do everything I can to bring our state together, because we really do agree on so much. Some folks weren't all too happy about our state government and how our Attorney General has been flushing taxpayer money down the toilet. It's about time Missouri's government represent Missourians again. And on that, every one of us agreed.
My evening ended talking politics and eating ice cream at Trump HQ in Warsaw. We got an invitation to come back again.
There is nothing that those who have abused their power and our country fear more than the American people overcoming our differences and getting our government working for us. Sometimes we'll leave a conversation disagreeing on an important issue, but it's the promise of a future conversation, another opportunity to learn and grow from each other, that makes our country work. Missouri can be such a great home for all of us, and that's what we're fighting for in this campaign.
I'll be back. The malt was really good.
