EAA is a growing and diverse organization of members with a wide range of aviation interests and backgrounds. EAA was founded in 1953 by a group of individuals in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, who were interested in building their own airplanes. Through the decades, the organization expanded its mission to include antiques, classics, warbirds, aerobatic aircraft, ultralights, helicopters and contemporary manufactured aircraft.
Every summer, EAA hosts AirVenture, better known to many as "Oshkosh" - the world's premier aviation event. More than 10,000 airplanes and hundreds of thousands of people come together for a week to celebrate the spirit of aviation! Join us July 20-26, 2026 for #OSH26!

EAA is saddened about the death of Gemini and Apollo astronaut Jim Lovell. He made frequent visits to Oshkosh over the past 30 years and was a real friend to the organization.
CEO Jack Pelton had this to say:
“Jim Lovell was a hero to many of us as we followed the exploits of America’s space programs in the 1960s and ‘70s, and became known to new generations through the movie Apollo 13."
"We at EAA had a close connection to him for decades, as he first met EAA founder Paul Poberezny in their mutual hometown of Milwaukee. We express our condolences to Jim’s family and many friends, and say, Godspeed and thank you.”
