For VE day we remember George Thompson of Cragend Farm a farm labourer latterly an RAF pilot shot down in 1944 aged 21. Our celebrations of tours of the farm focus on the lives at the farm and he was one.

A throwback to when we were starting to explore this amazing building and our son made a Minecraft video of the interior and exterior for us, that was picked up by Historic England as a great way to survey buildings.

Thank you to The Carbon Literacy Project for their guidance in providing us with our Certification.
Our pledge to progress our Carbon Nett Zero aims is real. They can be accessed on our website Blog.
Today we use an array of items powered by assorted energy sources, but very few people want to know where the energy was actually coming from, other than the plug socket! Now, as we become a world more aware of the source of our power, its worth taking a look back in time to when options were limited, to see the bigger picture of how far we have come.
We are custodians of the history and repair of our unique site, Cragend Farm, in Rothbury, Northumberland, England, UK, where industrialist Sir William Armstrong of Cragside built a Demonstration Centre for water powered hydraulics, and how his collaboration with Henry Watson and Gilbert Gilkes led them to influence numerous engineering wonders of their time, harnessing natural resources, such as Tower Bridge, and the Aswan Dam and Niagara Falls hydro-systems.
