I'm Johnny, i don't like needless fluff in videos, unless absolutely called for. Some videos will be deeper dives and those are going to have the extra stuff not everyone wants. Others are going to be very utilitarian videos that will hit directly to the root of an issue, education on how to cut a cigar, how to pack a pipe, how to clean a pipe, etc...

Making YouTube videos is always fun for me. I like the research aspect, figuring out what needs to be said. I write it all up, then I discard half of it because I want it to sound natural & I talk to the camera like someone is sitting across from me.
I always hope it comes out well, but honestly, I have such a blast doing it, then editing and putting in all the extras here and there.. 😆 🤣
I like to think I'd do it even if no one watched.
Tomorrow morning, i'll have a good video up on Tongue bite, causes, and solutions.

A bones brandy. Fun little pipe that easily fits into a pocket, and its a 9mm filtered pipe, so bonus! Leather zippo case. And a Vintage tamper. +Vintage remington pocket knife from the 60-80 years ago. Hard to place how old it is reliably. Its either early 40's or late 50's i think.
Watch is a vintage Raketa, mechanical and fun. Hank of course is from kimagi.

Working on a Meerschaum coloring video to document that 30day challenge i did with this pipe. Doing a video like this is akin to writing an essay/preparing a speech . Figuring out what i want to say, what the wrong things to say are so I can ensure I word things right and dont say anything to mislead folks.
Its a bit of a responsibility when so many folks watch a video and trust you to be 100% honest with them. I take it seriously, and its something I enjoy doing.
This topic is contentious too. Folks have been arguing about coloring Meerschaum pipes for over a century. I'm not going to prove or disprove anything, all I can do is show what I did, & what the result were, while being mindful to not make claims i cant back up.
At any rate, i'm recording right now and going through the process, but i just wanted to say, thanks for trusting me. I take that trust seriously.

We all have an impact in one way or another. Well, after the success of my Pipe Smoking 101 video, and the way it really showcased a particular pipe and my love for it. The folks at MBSD Pipes have been inundated with requests for a Meerschaum Poker to such an extent that they've named the line of pipes "The Whittler" in homage to me.
That's more than a little bit humbling.
They're going up now on MBSD's site, they got 20 of them in, and are posting 10 up tonight. So, if you're really wanting to get one of them, now's your chance.

Got a new pipe in from Mbsd pipes. The brand "James Upshall" is one of England's finest pipe makers, but the name is only the brand. Much of the brand's reputation was built by master carver Barry Jones, whose ability to read the grain of a briar block and shape each pipe around it is literally legendary among collectors. Every pipe was hand carved rather than factory made.
Its a piece of pipe history in my hand, and i'm so flipping excited to have one!

I love this old GBD Conquest. Its a big pipe, but not overtly huge. The "Conquest" designated one of GBD's larger-sized pipes. GBD had three oversized designations, in ascending size, Conquest, Collector, Colossus... So a Conquest is essentially a generously proportioned GBD rather than an extra large monster.
These old GBD's made between the 60's and early 70's aren't exactly hard to find. But they are absolutely the estate pipes that those who know will grab and hold onto like they just found a diamond!

The wife is back in town so the sky's are more Blue and the grass a shade greener. Amazing how attached you can get to someone isn't it?
Pipe is a Paneled Meerschaum Billiard from Mbsd Pipes, a vintage zippo i got back in the day, a vintage Astley's of England brass tamper, and a solid Buck Canoe pocket knife on a Kimagi hank.
Warch is a basic Timex , but i like simple watches a lot.
