I'm on a fortnightly release schedule for now, so my next video is due on Friday 19th, about a week away, but if you're thirsting for some quality autistic-made content before then I can't recommend Mike's @Autistic_AF video below more highly.
Mike's always good at casting a critical, but fair eye over the many scientific ups & downs related to autism/ND and he's certainly been kept busy in recent months, but all through that he's been working on this video that's taken him well over a year to make.
He's tackled the often controversial subject of ABA (Applied Behaviour Analysis) head on in the most hands-on way possible, by actually registering and training as an ABA practitioner himself, and the resulting documentary is (IMO) a YouTube masterpiece. It's a long watch, so I did it in a couple of stretches, but it's well worth your time for what I think is one of (if not THE) best pieces of ABA related content out there. It's a balanced, factual and emotionally cogent take on one of the most "hot-takey" topics in this field & I think a "must-watch"🏆

How do our autistic traits alter the way we understand and tell stories? It's one of the most basic functions of communication, yet every one of this common "Triple-A" of autistic traits impacts on both sides of every story. This new video looks at how being Aphantasic, Alexithymic and Affective* makes reviewing a hit TV show (which hit me in the autistic feels HARD) is actually a unique challenge.
The opening episodes of Plur1bus really did impress me, so it gives me a fantastic opportunity to both delve into a seldom discussed aspect of autism AND maybe reach a few new viewers interested in the show. So if you're curious what I have to say about either the show OR Triple-A autism, you know what to do😉
And if you're worried about spoilers... Only for the first episode & I've not given away much you wouldn't pick up from the trailer - BUT!!!! It's NOT spoiler free, so wait or watch at your PERIL!!!😱

A small selection of stills from "How Does Autistic Theory of Mind Work" which has just gone up on Patreon for preview😊
Thanks to everyone who responded to the research topics in my last release. In comments & emails I've been offered some great insights which are all helping me with a video I've planned for next year. If you haven't yet seen why "Autism Diagnosis is BROKEN" then here's a link:

"At 55 I'm too old to have had MMR... My mum was told she was allergic to paracetamol/acetaminophen so never took it even BEFORE she was pregnant, and like most of my countrymen, I'm intact in the trouser department, yet I'm @Autistic_AF (in both senses)"
...The comment I left on my friend Mike's latest "debunking" video, which are always well worth a look, and I think he's delivered a blinder here! What he's done with cucumbers is sheer YouTube genius, well illustrating (and correcting) the lunacy of some of the nonsense coming out about autism lately... He also made me spit me tea out laughing at one point, so be warned.
Give it a look if you fancy some reassuring sense & science and say hello from me when you stop by👍😊🐈🖖
Oh... and I'm getting some pretty amazing feedback from people who've watched new Autistamatic video that went up a couple of days ago, so check it out too if you haven't already😁

One of the virtual sets from todays new video, uploading as I speak, so should be ready to view for anyone commuting home in the UK👍😊
Despite the undoubtedly serious subject matter of "Autism Diagnosis NEEDS Change" I've somehow managed to pay homage to more old British TV shows in this one than in most of my videos. Can you spot ALL 3 in this set? (one is obvious, one less so and the third one is a bit of a stretch... if anyone from outside the UK gets that one, they deserve a gold nerd medal!)

Autism Diagnosis Needs Change
Last time we looked at the role interoception plays in the widespread misdiagnosis of autistic people - not JUST when seeking autism diagnosis, but when we seek help with ANYTHING requiring treatment or therapy. Some of us go for years without treatment or worse, the WRONG treatment because many doctors just don't know how to communicate with autistic folks.
The new video looks at how the structure of the diagnostic process is itself a MASSIVE barrier to getting diagnosed as autistic in the first place, even before we speak to a professional. Like last time though, it's an issue that can cost us dearly every time we interact with medicine, employers and countless other everyday situations.
The video is live on Patreon now (link in the descriptions of my videos😉) and will be available here on YouTube Friday coming.

They're simple simple questions: Why do so many autistic people find it so hard for our medical problems to get recognised? Why do we often go for years without treatments for long-standing symptoms? Why do so many of us get MISdiagnosed?
Find out later today when I upload part 6 of the ongoing series on the Triad of Distinction, delving into autistic interoception👍

New video HAS JUST GONE LIVE* I'm going to use the feature that allows me to compare how different thumbnails perform today, so don't be surprised if you see both the versions up above in your timeline.
This video is part four of "How I Made Autism Make Sense", where we're looking into the three different varieties of emotional stress that particularly affect autistic folks and which contribute to the emotional element of the Triad of Distinction. It's gone down really well with my patrons over on Patreon, so I hope you find it useful too👍
Don't forget to do the old likey, subscribey, sharey stuff for me, if you can😊 2/3 of the comments left on my videos are from non-subscribers & it really seems odd that so many take the time to leave a comment, but aren't yet subbed, despite saying they love my work.
S'a funny old world, eh?
Expect the next video on sensory stresses in about a week if you're a paying patron, or two weeks here on YouTube.
T'RA!
* I posted earlier to expect it at around 7-8pm, but I managed to get it uploaded earlier than expected😊

One for the cat/animal lovers...
Because of a last minute cock up, yesterday's video (Autism: The 3rd Paradigm) went up about 2 hours later than I'd planned. It meant I was still downstairs with my beautiful furry girls when they turned in for the night. It was lovely to see them curled up next to each other in my wife's (not Sheldons's) "spot" on the sofa.
Nyota (the dark one) and Orla (ginge) are sisters from the same litter but they often spend their days at opposite ends of the house. Seeing them so close & happy to be in each other's company just feels warm & fuzzy in a way I can't quite communicate, but plenty of you will know anyway.
Thanks for all the wonderful feedback on the new release btw. It's been really positive & supportive, which is motivation I'm very happy to have behind me right now. It's great seeing how so many of us have come to similar or complementary conclusions to those I'm proposing.
I'm recording the next video later today & hoping for a shorter gap before release this time. I'll also be putting up a new vlog for Patrons, detailing a few recent personal developments & the odd amusing or interesting snippet 😊
Take care autistipeeps & see you soon!
Quinn
