The Harsh Truth About Why Most Startups Are Still Struggling in 2026

Over the past 6 to 8 weeks, I’ve personally spoken to almost 1,000 online business owners.

I’m talking about real one-on-one conversations.

Zoom calls.
Phone calls.
DMs.

Actual conversations with startup founders trying to grow their businesses.

And what I’ve noticed is a very clear pattern in 2026.

This isn’t a criticism.

What I’m seeing over and over again is that when life happens, the business stops.

People are moving house.
There’s illness in the family.
Someone passes away.
They have children to look after.
Work commitments.
Family obligations.
Mental stress.

And those things become the reason the business pauses.

Now let me be very clear.

There are absolutely things in life more important than money or business.

Family matters.
Relationships matter.
Health matters.

I 100 percent agree with that.

But the entrepreneurs who are already doing seven figures or who have real momentum have figured something out.

They have dissociated themselves from the business.

They understand that they are not the business and the business is not them.

So no matter what happens in their personal life, they find a way to make sure the business continues to grow.

They find a way to go to the funeral and still run the business.

They find a way to visit the hospital and still follow up with leads.

They find a way to move house and still publish content.

They find a way to deal with illness, stress, chronic fatigue, and everything else life throws at us…

…and still keep the business moving forward.

Because life will keep happening until the day we die.

The difference is that successful founders stop asking themselves:

Do I do A or B?

Do I focus on life or business?

Instead they ask:

How do I do A AND B?

They build systems.
They use AI and automation.
They run paid ads.
They build teams.

Whatever it takes so that the sales, marketing, and growth of the business continues, even when life is chaotic.

If you’re a startup founder struggling to get off the ground, this might be difficult to hear.

But I’m saying this because I care.

Your children, your job, your commitments, your obligations, your stress… all of these things can either become an excuse why the business doesn’t grow…

Or they can become the reason why you must succeed.

Because the reality is simple.

Someone who is busier than you…

Someone with more responsibility than you…

Someone with more challenges than you…

Has already figured out how to make it work.

The real question is not if it’s possible.

The real question is:

How badly do you actually want financial freedom?
