Even when I upload crisp, high-quality images — YouTube somehow turns them into mush 😩
Here's the deal:
🛑 YouTube compresses thumbnails A LOT.
Even if you upload a sharp 4K image, it gets crunched down to 1280x720 and then aggressively compressed to save bandwidth.
🎨 That’s why text looks blurry, edges aren't clean, and everything feels... cheap.
Meanwhile, platforms like Nebula let creators keep their thumbnails in high quality — no weird compression, no detail loss. Zoom in and they still look sharp.
So if you're ever wondering why the same thumbnail looks amazing on Nebula and awful on YouTube... now you know.
YouTube, please fix your thumbnail compression. Creators are trying 😤
