So, since I had my cancer surgery a few years back, I've had trouble getting enough air in my lungs. This is especially evident when reading for you. When once I could read a whole page without stopping, now I often have trouble making it through one long sentence. It's incredibly frustrating, and makes the editing process take much longer.
Now, this device here looks like one of those breathey things they make you use in the hospital. Doesn't it? But apparently it's different. This old bassoonist guy designed it. (Not the guy in the video).
In closing, I have ordered one from a music store in Toronto and am WAITING WITH BATED BREATH.
You guys. I think I have found the answer to background noise. (Bird noise). It's AI, which blows, but it seems to work pretty good. I think it affects my voice a little, but you can let me know what you think on the next chapter.
Also, in case you're interested, Pixie says:
Peekaboo My baby boy Pretty baby bird Boop Such a baby Budgie bird Sweetie Pie A boop a Doy. (whatever that means).
I have always DETESTED LED lights. They make me feel horrible, physically and emotionally. I'm learning more about WHY. It's pretty dry and sciencey for my taste, but it's interesting. A discussion on old vs. new Christmas lights sparked the research.
It's still relatively easy to find incandescent bulbs, but since the, what - late nineties? - they've been phasing them out. A world lit by LED is not a world I wish to inhabit.
Go ahead, choose which tree you like best. I won't hold it against you if you choose the wrong one.
My good friend Annah and I have started a collaboration to last throughout December. We are reading the gospel of Luke, and will have a new chapter for you every day until Christmas! I hope you'll enjoy listening and reading along. Happy holidays and God bless us, every one!
First, I must apologize for my lack of content, especially reading. I'm feeling kind of... Not in the mood. I know that's a lame excuse, and I should plug ahead anyhow. Please forgive me!
Second, has anyone heard of Richard Thompson? I am thoroughly devouring Juliana Hatfield's 2008 memoir "When I Grow Up", and the music of Richard Thompson is the focal point of chapter 23. Juliana is on tour with her merch guy, Brian, and sound guy, Tim. Whomever is driving the tour van gets to choose the music. They don't all like the same music. Sometimes, if someone is particularly tired or sick or hungover, they may ask the driver to "please not play that" and he or she will usually oblige. Tim loves Richard Thompson, and Juliana can't stand him. It goes on from there and is quite amusing. I'm actually thinking about recording this chapter, as it tickled me so. Anyway... I've never heard of Richard Thompson, but after Juliana's detailed account of her dislike of his music, I've gotta go give him a listen.
