It’s not a birthday until Sara dramatically draws attention to you on social media and spews a bunch of feelings....
I remember the moment I took this picture...the stars had aligned in every real and metaphorical way to make it happen. The light this day was moody and perfect. She was stunning and effortless. Despite knowing each other and sharing a kiddo between our houses for several years, our friendship was brand spankin new. I distinctly remember looking at her through my cameras view finder and being totally awe struck by her beauty and the fact that the baby in her belly was my kiddo’s little brother. There was a helluva lot of grace, forgiveness, and hard work that brought us to where we are today, but this very moment, realizing that I loved the crap outta this woman, it was easy. Hillary is an incredible person—she embodies everything good about being a woman—wife, mother, sister, daughter, friend. If she loves you she loves you hard. She is a mama lion to her babies and gives the best of herself to them every single day. She’s creative, determined, original, funny, driven, feisty, and does it all in a way that makes the rest of us wish we could be more like her. And true to form, she thinks her birthday is no big deal. Hogwash. She’s a big deal in my life and I’m so glad she was born. Happy Birthday, Hill. You’re alright, I guess.
