George Lucas wanted to hire Genndy Tartakovsky to lead the 3D The Clone Wars and Lucasfilm Animation, but Tartakovsky declined the offer. Lucas was impressed with the success of Tartakovsky's 2D Clone Wars microseries and saw him as a potential Pixar-like figure for the company. However, Tartakovsky ultimately did not take the position.
